Making A Human Blood Bowl Team. Advice?
« on: November 22, 2009, 07:13:59 PM »
Ok guys, here's the plan.

I need to whip up a Human team for an upcoming league.

Here are my options:

1. Buy GW Human Team. Expensive. Not brilliant models and not the models I want my team to be.

2. Militia Box + Pistoliers. Armoured torsos for Blitzers. Variety of arms, poses and I get some more Pistoliers for my army.  :engel:

3. Buy the Blood Bowl set and use those models. Can bulk out team with models from my club that are going spare.

4. Shop around online for indepent retailers (e.g Impact).

Does anyone have any experience and/or advice?
Any models online that would be good for the job?

Don't know bloodbowl, but I'd go for number 2.

That's the one I'm probably going to do this week, but just in case somebody knows of an awesome idea or manufacturer, I'll jump at the chance to use a better idea..... :engel:

Actually, the armoured fat-fingered arm seems to be open. So will therefore be a Catcher's mitt.  :-P

I have played a bit of Blood Bowl lately, I would like to express my opinion. (Especially if you are just starting, and you are not.)

Number one; People dont have Blood Bowl teams, they have Blood Bowl collections. Unlike other games the low model count allows you to go to town on just a few miniatures.

The Human Metals are slightly under-rated by the public. I think they could look wonderfull with some TLC and conversions. (The pistolier heads come to mind) Converting plastic kits over can sometimes look goofy, rarely do they look correct next to true fantasy football miniatures.

You need the blood bowl set to play and help host events, its nice to have extra templates as well.

I would combine 1 with 3 or 2 with 3. Use the plastics from blood bowl or the metal team complemented with pistolier bits. Sell the Orc Team to fund your blood bowl exploits or help a new player.

4 is a good option, but not allways for human players. I love Impact Miniatures; the Gnomes play well as Ogres, Dwarfs, Humans or Halflings. Deadlings as Undead, Necromancer, Halflings, exc... They provide a range of options for the price and nearly allways look unique.

Note that the Divine Wind, Spartians and Desert Dogs can be used as a few races including Humans, Highelfs, Dark Elfs, Orcs exc... With some carefull modeling it would not be unthinkable to make a team that crossed such lines with the standard figures and a few conversions.

I guess it all depends on how you want to model and where you draw the line between Warhammer and Blood Bowl.

Anyways my two cents.
Good luck and Nuffle be with you! :biggriin:

I'm Actually doing the same. Ebay has loads of the older human teams on it you could get for a deal. Also http://www.tritex-games.co.uk/store/product.php?id=1928 has a nce human blitzer model.

I'm still trying to find other options so if anyone knows any fire them my way.

Other than that it was buying the human team, or if you prefer the odler models buy the boxset. Although I think they only come with two Blitzers and any human team worth its salt needs 4 and possible ogre.

Exactly. Only two blitzers is a put off.

My team has 4 blitzers, 2 catchers, 1 thrower and 4 linemen. 3 rerolls and 8 FF too.

I'm going into Bristol on Thursday, so will buy a box of Militia and Pistoliers then.

The Middenland Marauders will ride!

The 7th edition state troop monkey poses and armour suits human blood bowl conversions pretty well. It's one of their few uses.

Yes, I did actually buy a box of inbreeds. Shut up.
I agree with the inhumane treatment of animals.

I can't post a link (work PC), but do a google search for Blood Bowl Bunnies.

These would make a fantastic Human BB team.  I'm very tempted to p/u a team for myself.

Get the basic team (11 I believe) then add a few others.  Be sure to also get the coach figures etc.

Its a bit expensive over-all, but you will surely be the talk of the league with that team!!!!!

All the other advice seems very familar (many of you PM'd me the same)  Listen to them, they are wise :)

If I could get that Java game working on my system at home I'd give you a game or two as well but....
Sometimes the "Old Ones" just need to leave.....

Why not just buy the GW Human Team? They're awesome models if a tad expensive. If you don't liek the spikes you can just cut them off (though I quite like the spikes personally).

As you said, expensive, with extra money needed to spent on more Blitzers, as it only comes with two.

Are you sure you got 4 blitzers? the only way i can see them being different is the front of their helm being different pattern.

They also have a different style breastplate.

Just looked at the GW picture on their website - it shows 4 blitzers on the team box set...

I have the bunnies,

Play Boy Bunnies of Doom as I call them is my BB team. I only have the basic 11 starter set (so 2 throwers, 2 catchers, 2 blitzers, 5 lineswomen).

Great models!
The greatest form of control which can go on forever until it is exposed is a tyranny you can't see, touch and taste (unlike totalitarian Govts). When you sit in a prison cell but can't see the bars, because people don't rebel against not being free when they think they're are.
