New models you expect to see for empire 8th.
« on: December 26, 2009, 03:57:29 AM »
Greetings all.
I though I would start a thread for us to discuss what models we might expect to see come our next army book.

I myself believe that we will see the return of a few older units like the war wagon, reiksguard and mabye a halfling unit, because if rumours are true that our new knights will come next year then we will be a bit scarse for new kits and models with our current units.

There are some units that may get redone again:
-Milita (I hope not though!)
-State Troops again (yes please!)
-Cannon and Mortar crew.

Other then that we have a large opening for new unit models and the like.

Here's what I expect to see in the first 8th empire wave.
-Plastic Milita
-Plastic War wagon/War Altar
-Plastic Halflings (They were included in the fairly new empire uniform book so I think they have a good chance of showing up)

-New Karl Franz
-New Luthor Huss
-New Character models
-Mabye a witch hunter model (here's hoping)

Mini's I hope to see somewhere along the track
-Plastic Reikguard (not Goldguard though!)
-New Bathasar Gelt Peg (Bathasar himself is fine)
-Plastic Pikemen!

Then of course we would likely have a second wave so who knows what we could receive in that?

What are your expectations on new mini's for our 8th ed book then?

cheers. :smile2:

From the brain that brought you the Big Ben Caper
The head that made headlines in every newspaper
And wonderous things like the Tower Bridge Job
That cunning display that made London a sob

Now comes the real Tour de Force
Tricky and wicked of course

A new plastic sculpt of the War Altar is enough for me.

A decent mage would be nice too...maybe a cool female model or two?

I'm guessing you are asking which models we would like to see.
If so, I  would like the Empire to become the large, multicultural realm it used to be and have Hlaflings, Dwarves and maybe even Ogres in its' ranks.

I'm new to the forums, and I'm just picking up warhammer again after a few year hiatus, so I feel like a newbie all over again  :icon_cry: My question is, they are redoing the empire army models again for 2010?

Just asking...I wanna start piecing my army together again but I don't want to pour money into it yet if the new models are coming out soon. Thanks!

Just so you aren't wasting time waiting on buying models or would feel somehow gauche for having old models.  I still use some of my really really old 2nd edition models from back in the early 90's late 80's.  Get models you feel would make a nice core for your army paint them up then add on later.

as for what is likely:  I figure knights, and militia and some new character models perhaps a pegasus cap but unlikely.

What I would like is new state troops including a pike haft option, scouting handgunners, pistol wielding knights, light cav with lances, handweapons and archery options, an engineer kit, a warrior priest cav kit, and a militia kit allowing you to make anything from incipient swordsmen to pistol duellists, or farm peasants.

oh really now.  LOL ROFLMAO oh the irony.

We will get new plastic knights 5 in a box

We will get a new plastic War Altar / War Wagon

We will also get a few special characters done.
Probably Karl Franz, maybe also Volkmar.

There will also be a Witch Hunter character introduced.

Luthor Huss will remain as our only official mounted WP model.

Looking back, the way I wrote it does sound like insider info doesn't it.

No, I don't have info, other than speculation from previous editions / armies.

I did call Plastic Wizards and War Altar rules though.

Knights (both types) are in absolute desperate need of a plastic kit.

So is the Warrior Priest (w/ horse obviously).

The rest is pretty solid imo.

The War altar will be abolished.

Instead we will get an Empire version of the plastic giant, probably steam powered.

Infantry will get a rule boost, where barefoot soldiers get +2 attacks.

That'll be it really....

Give that man a lollypop.

I will literally go mental if they make new militia. I can imagine none of them having shoes.

I'm really curious if they would remake foot reiksguard, thou I'm not so sure about the need for them. But fluffwise they really should.
If they do, then I hope they will match in size with other foot troops.
And they should also make new knights of the inner circle, if they will remain in rules that is.

The War altar will be abolished.
Screw that. I'm in the process of cutting up my plastic steam tank to convert one. They better keep it.

Then again, with hindsight, it'd have been better to wait anyways.

Also, knights. I hope no new pistoliers. I guess we might get a new cannon box though (it's old).

Please give us...

- some new plastic knights
- a new version of the great cannon and mortar
- a character model on a big mean mount (imperial dragon, griffon)
- a new themed-based special unit (like the Teutogen Guard) - I would suggest an Altdorf elite regiment in heavy armour with halberds  :smile2:

And by the way... :| :| :|

GW hasn't been doing Kislev for about ten years - so get them back in the empire list again
- a box of five plastic winged lancers or empire demi-lancers would be fine
- plastic horse archers
- plastic Kislev state troopers (they should wear boots, cos it's cold in the north)

I am guessing that a new artillery set would be on the horizon along with a new plastic griffon/pegasus general set.  (Kind of like the HE dragon set. Where you can make 2 different types of characters with one box.)
I predict the knights will be about the same but 5 to a box, for about 25.00USD
Also, I really hope they don't do a new militia unless they add a TON of new equipment and weapon bits on the sprue. (Like the bottle on the solider sprue, or axe on the Bret. Sprue.  A pitchfork comes to mind...)

The world you believe is reality is a puppet show!

Knights! that's all for now. Although I don't like the current state troops empire has a fairly strong range currently.

Just about anything new would be good for me, lots more bits to mix and match.

I think the knights are a must since them and the militia are about the oldest still in production kits GW has going.
