I would have thought the no 360 sight for skirmishers would have bothered her more.  Wood elf players I expect to be pulling out more eternal guard units now as the bonuses for shooting (other than skirmishers being able to march and shoot) do not apply given they rarely field enough to be ranked units.
Against my wood elf player I can't wait to throw some lore of life and have the trees eat them.

Anyways, to your questions:
The dangerous terrain for woods only applies to certain units: cavalry, monstrous cavalry, and chariots plus flyers that finish their movement in the woods(wood elf units all having forest strider ignore this so their flyers now can hide in woods).

Woods no longer block line of sight so you can both shoot and magic through them, they just get soft cover bonuses if you shoot through or into it.

What wood elf players will like is that they can buy a suit of magic armor to get a 2+ armor save.

The 360 LoS thing did initially bother her I think, but as the game went on, she found it wasn't too bad if she remembered to adjust for it. Even with the loss of it, her dryads and waywatchers still blew my army away .

She was eagerly painting Eternal Guard yesterday as it happens...

And maybe a way to stop the Purple Sun?

Very groovy

I hate people who don't paint their armies, hate them with all my guts. Beats me how they value other things over painting, like eating or brushing teeth.

That game was good time Warlord.  Remember that sometimes you'd find a lady in the shower?  My 8 year old mind snickered a lot.

Finally got my book today and the magic card deck.  The deck is great because it has not only each spell, but on the same card reminds you what your lore attribute is so you don't forget to apply it.  A great way to choose spells (obviously) until the one you want is dog-eared and your buddies recognize which one not to pick.  :icon_razz:

I hope we'll get some replacement for my duellists then! But whatever. It's a shame Kislev wasn't mentioned in the allied section.

-edit-
There was also no mention of a new army there.
Kislev ;_;

I just played my first game in 8th edition.

Turn 3 : His entire army (WoC) gone, mine not a single casualty.

Are we really the new powerhouse ?

As it's soth... I expect the maximum allowed by the rules of artillery.  :engel:

Actually, no.

2 cannons, 2 Helstorms, 1 30 man spear unit, 1 30 man swords unit, 2 10 man handgun dets, 1 det xbows, a unit of 11 IC knights, 2WP's and an AL on WA.

His army : A monted Chaos lord with 10 knights, 2 marauder horsemen units, 2-3 units of hounds, a spawn, a Hellcannon and a 20 man warrior unit including a sorcerer.

Also, the most important observation I made was the fact that the shooting sequence is so different. You can now fire with a warmachine/unit and evaluate the result before aiming the next one

They destroyed all his light cav troops + the remains of his main infantry block.

The knights and artillery did most off the killing, the handgunners finished of a spawn I forgot to mention before and the xbows took some unsuccesfull shots at things . the infantry stood back and applauded the proceedings.

Sounds remarkably 7th edition to me. I guess that 1+ armour did a lot good for your low initiative knights. Our infantry would probably suffer against his warriors. By the lists it seems he could outmaneuver you with fast cavalry. Did the random charging range help your knights?

Nevertheless, you got probabbly a little bit lucky in the knights clash. Chaos lord would trounce warrior priest in a challenge and knights could cause something like 2-3 wounds. Without WP you would be looking at 2 wounds from your knights.
But this assumes you did not get off some devastating flank shot.

Regards,

Bedevere

Basically, my knights outmanoevred his knight unit, effectively keeping it out of the battle.

That, more than anything, won me the game.
