I think the eldar have done the same but they have reached a sort of understanding of what they are.  Though a famous eldar philosopher has made the claim that Orks are the only race to have reached perfection.

Perfection can't be achieved, but it seems every race tries anyway.  Although their are those that say perfection is relative.

In the case of the ork and eldar, I think it was perfection in relation to their place in the universe.

Yep, I vaguely recall reading some fluff on this somewhere.

Unanswered Necron questions include 'did they like flying pedal-boats as much before they died and turned into robots?'

Also 'why did they hate space frogs anyway?'

Necrons do not care about your mockery, because they get an actual DEATH RAY (which is apparently pretty scary...)!

• Doom Scythe: Pure fighter variant of the Night Scythe. AV11 with Living Metal (but no Quantum Shielding or open-topped). Is supersonic (36" flat-out) and can fire all its weapons when moving at cruising speed. Has a twin-linked tesla Destructor & a Death Ray, which allows a 3D6" line to be drawn (with one end of the line being within 12" of the vehicle) and causes a number of hits on every unit crossed by the line equal to the number of MODELS in the unit hit. Oh and did I mention that these hits are S10 AP1? Nasty indeed! But at nearly 200 pts for an AV11 vehicle, to get within 12" to unleash this beast will probably be a bit rough.

Beat that, Silverboy.

Oh, come off it. What's the rumored points cost - somwhere around 200 points? For an AV11 Vehicle (wet toilet paper armor) and a 12" range gun. Reliably getting that gun somewhere useful is going to be a pain at the best of times.

It hits like a freight train though, that much is true. At that price it had better be good though...

A Manticore can spit D3 S10 templates with one shot, at less cost with more armor.

"Beardy as fuck" is something I'd reserve until I actually see a context and can gauge the usefulness.

Until then,, it's a DEATH RAY. And that's awesome.

Perhaps it is best for us to all hold it permanently in reserve for our reltionships off site. :icon_wink:

reliably getting a gun somewhere wont really be a pain if you can move faster than anything else in the game.

12inch range, plus 3d6, which is what, 11, 12? on average

so it's actually a 24 inch range gun, that wipes out entire squads in one shot.

If you line it up right, it can hit several squads, and strength 10 ap 1, is deadly to tanks too.

Living metal ignores shaken and stunned, right? So first turn it turbo boosts 36 inches behind cover, for a 4+ invulnerable save, ignores 1/3 of the damage results (which is pretty darn resilient), then moves 12 more inches and kills half your army.

It only needs one shot to easily win back its points.

And what if you don't get the first turn? That's always the kicker with those "just turboboost and you're golden" strategies. In that case you need to reserve, which makes it a whole lot more of a gamble.

It does sound good though, yes. But broken? I don't think so.

Do continue though, you'll manage to drain the fun out of it yet!

It sounds needlessly complicated and a bit daft.

This is the internet, allow me to over react.!

Quite easy to hide a unit in cover in first turn though, isn't it?

Without seeing the whole book It certainly looks very powerful, albeit a bit too expensive to be spammed in numbers.
The new rules look good (I thought they liked to try and reduce army special rules?)- I guess the key will be how expensive they are.

This release is no fun for me though, fairly bland models, and I might never play them- unless you take them to the EB.

I thought they liked to try and reduce army special rules?

They always claim that when a new edition comes out, but it never lasts long. Soon you get weird guns with baroque firing methods for basically no reason.

I do! That's why I decorated this with a smiley and everything.

Infantry, sure. A big-ass fighter on a flying base? Not so much. This is pure conjecture since I have no idea what the model will look like, but existing similar models (Dark Eldar fighter, Valks/Vendettas, Stormraven) make this very likely.

This release is no fun for me though, fairly bland models, and I might never play them- unless you take them to the EB.

I thought it was the same as the pedal-boat, but with a big gun on it. You can see it in one of the pictures.

That's the Doomsday Ark.
I thought he should act responsibly and just kill himself.

No!

The doomsday ark is an ugly giant ribcage.

Though maybe the thing in the picture is something else entirely. Who knows?

In fact it probably is something else, since the thing with the over-complicated gun is yet another space fighter.

Yes to Doomsday Ark being the ribcage, no to the gun on barge being the fighter. That one is called Annihilation Barge, according to the rumor roundup.

The fighter model isn't revealed yet.

You were still wrong, Dwhitey!

I didn't read the text because I was too busy laughing at how ugly the models are.

Maybe the fighter will look like a large metal croissant, as the battle fleet gothic ships did?

It would have been silly if the necrons could pedal faster than anything else in the game.

You were still wrong, Dwhitey!

Less wrong than you, which to be honest, wasn't very hard.  :engel:

I didn't read the text because I was too busy laughing at how ugly the models are.

And I thought you were educated.

This debate needs so much more ad hominem, don't you agree?  :engel:

So how in the world do those things propel themselves? Can't tell from the photos, although I do see the pedals.

(GP ... players pick them up and move them around the playing surface.)

Oh, right.

It just occured to me that the necrons look kind of like like terminators. :icon_lol:
