This is a work in progress on the camo cloaks.

Where are the models? All I see is a big green backgr- ohhhhh   :icon_wink:.

That just shows how good the painting was.  :::cheers::: My cunning plan was a success...

I've got a basilisk coming at some point through Reaper's Bones 3 kickstarter that will be some nice artillery. Chimera's, especially for my veteran units are on the priority list.

I ran the gattling gun LEman, a full plasma tank, 3 basilisks, and a handful of battle cannon leman russ if points allowed.

Punisher is great, but only with Pask. Skip the Executioner. It's expensive and a couple of 1's mean that you're toast. Battle Cannons are always nice.

When it comes to transports, Chimeras are your friends. Screw the Tauroxes.

It looks good on paper with all the AP 2 small blasts, but the current ammount of other AP2 weaponry, as well as the Gets Hot! rule, really makes it an iffy tank in my opinion. Not to mention the attrocious point cost.

I'll have to order the parts for the Punisher then. I have a Valhallen army with one LR and I have a spare kit that is begging for this. And Pask too but he's not Valhallen lol. I had the 3 LR kit but 2 went into an ork battle wagon that my son built.

Just make an appropriately impressive looking Valhallan poking out the top of the tank and you're good.

vehicles only take damage on a get hot roll on a 1-3 on a D6. 4+ avoid it. that is one hull point every 4 turns, if you survive that long.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

You could use a head from the Empire Huntsmen kit for that purpose.

Well it shoots 5 times per turn.  So over a 6 turn game, thats thirty shots.  If you are shooting all of the plasma available, its likely to take 3 hull points by the end of the game.  I always put those plasma cannon sponsons on.  MOAR PLASMA!!!!!

I'd happily use some tanks if I could afford to buy them, then had the patience to actually paint them. Sadly I'm stuck with lots of squishy infantry until I find some cheap tanks.

I have added 3 more squads of SRS Storm troopers. SRS A, posted back away's, has been bumped up to platoon command squad. I then added:

SRS B (5 men, 2 of them with plasma guns. Anti big stuff),

SRS C (10 men, 1 with anti tank melta, 1 with flamer, sarg with close combat. Their all from EBay so the load out is weird, but they'll be flexible response.)

&

SRS D (8 Metal Stormtroopers. 1 with plasma gun, 1 with melta.)

So all my stormtroopers have accidently ended up as anti-tank. If I built them myself I would have preferred one of the squads to be anti infantry, but alas when you get them cheap off the electronic bay you don't get to pick loadout.

I also have more plasma guns then is probably smart. I'm a big fan of them normally, I think they look awesome, but the sheer number of them in my army is getting ridiculous.

It's also more stormtroopers then I originally planned to actually have in my army, so I can swap as need be. I'm just the kinda guy who likes to have all my units organised in one big master list when I'm not gearing up for a specific game.

How do you guys prefer using stormtroopers? Do you use a full platoon with command squad and everything, or prefer 1 or 2 small squads?

First of all you can never have enough Stormies. They're kickass. Now that being said, it's hard to use them correctly. Don't worry about having a lot of anti-tank, since AT works really well against hard infantry, like SM, Necrons and Tau suits.

You need to know how to efficently deploy them - footslogging Stormies are not a good idea, and it's not suggested to camp them on objectives, since they're an elite infantry and need to kill stuff. Either put them in Chimeras and ride around, melting fools or deploy them via deep strike as a suicidal, anti everything unit (lots of Meltas and Plasmas) or send them in support of your main forces, ideally on the flanks, kitted out with a Hot Shot Volleygun. S4 AP3 Salvo is sweet and spicy. However bear in mind that their default weapons have a short range so it might take a while before they'll be able to engage the enemy full on. That's why I like two 5-man suicide squads, dropped behind enemy lines to sow as much chaos and mayhem as possible.

Welp until I can get my hands on a few chimera's suicidal storm trooper squads it is. I'll probably use the bigger 10 man squad to hold one flank, and the two five man squads can deep strike and try and mess my opponents plans up. I enjoy the thought of multiple plasma guns appearing behind enemy lines and shredding anything that looks important.

For the Emperor of course.

A 10 man squad is nice, but be sure to hug cover as much as possible and space your guys accordingly. 4+ is not much, especially in the current meta. Deepstriking with a Plasma gun, Plasma pistol and maybe a Melta can be utterly devastating, but this unit will survive a turn, no more. So ideally bring two and drop them far apart of each other, for maximum confusion. ;)

Hydra Dom... errr, I meant - for the Emperor!

Oh yes, I've discovered just how important cover is in 40k. One of the reasons I got into fantasy in the first place was the tactics around moving regimental BLOCKS around the field. Cover was always nice but generally wasn't a huge part of the game. Unless you faced siege machines, but then cover is more like hiding behind an entire house or hill. 40k of course has a lot more emphasis on getting your squad into some bushes, or ruins or a crater. Cover saves are the sole reason my army survives after a few turns.

I have a 2000 pt game coming up on the weekend, so I'll get to try experimenting a bit with some suicidal stormtroopers.

I wasn't sure which thread to put this question in, so I'm just posting it here. It can muddle up my own thread.

The new deathwatch squad kits come with 18 specific chapter shoulder pads. What chapters are included? Anyone know?

Redoing some pictures after photobucket demanded $400. This post is mostly going to be older pictures and some painting from several months ago.

So lets start off with some heretical xeno scum. An Eldar warlock!

One of the early pictures of the 1st Canadiana, A Company. Led by brave Captain Hawkwood, the company has since expanded drastically.

Captain Hawkwood himself, from the front.

and from the side. Take a gander at the attempt at painting the Canadian flag on his shoulder. Yes, that blip in the middle is suppose to be a maple leaf.

The company banner bearer.

1st Platoon HQ Squad. Led by Lt Uhtred the 1st. For my own enjoyment I've decided that everytime the platoon squad is killed in a battle, the previous Lt (and occasionally squaddies) I mark that their killed in battle. Then the next one's promoted. Hence the 1st.

Lynx Squad. The premier group of veterans attached to A Company.

The camo on the back of the sniper.

We're back with another update! Brought to you courtesy of the astronomican, directly from the far galactic North!

Firstly we have a new addition to the Commissarat out here on the edge of space. Cadet-Commissar Mikael Valstoya and his totally reliable plasma pistol. On his first showing he managed to cut down 4 warp talons before... uh, having his pieces picked up and stitched back together.

Next up the local space marine chapter, the DoomSeekers, get's a bit of nightmare fuel themselves. A trio of reapers!

The four of them together. No doubt an awkward meeting.

And finally one of the next things on the painting desk. The guard has called for assistance, and their getting one BFG...
