It seems to be dipping in and out of consciousness today. Sometimes it's awake, sometimes its gone. Right now (can you guess) it's working fine so maybe I should just shut up?

Me too - sometimes taking an awful long time to load.

Midaski's layman understanding:

Please be aware our Lead Engineer is doing some work.
The email registration problem has proved too much - thought it was fixed and then it goes wrong again.

As I understand it "The Brewery" is trying a new host/system and we may well be following their lead if it is successful.

Seems like a problem this morning.

I made a couple of posts around 2-3 hours ago which have gone, and all the posts I read at that time have turned up again as unread.

Looks like somebody reset things???

On a more positive note, I'm receiving email notifications (for PMs & subscribed threads) again as of last night. Hadn't received any for at least a week or two.

For a couple of weeks or so (apart from tonight) the forum has been really slow, sometimes so slow Chrome gives up, at around 10 or 11 pm GMT every evening. But like I said, not tonight.

Our dwarven Lead* Engineer tells me we moved servers yesterday, and so we should be smoother now.

So slick we only had a short time loop-out

* I have always wondered if the "Lead" means the head of the engineering team, or the metal, or even the length of material around his neck that Grutch controls him with

The 'Mark all messages as read' button doesn't seem to do what it should.

Same problem last time the forum moved.

Tried it. Also cleared the browser history.

The 'Mark as read' button sort of works: the search for new posts doesn't bring the old unread posts, but the forums still show all threads that I didn't visit as 'new'.

A nuisance, not very serious.

Search for new posts has been working sporadically for me. Sometimes I log in and can retrieve new posts, and sometimes I can't, although there are new posts present since my last visit to the site. Makes me wonder if it's me, because this type of thing seems like a no brainer these days.

Another thing is that the site never approves my password on the first try. On the second try, it always works.

Had this problem on another forum too.

Maybe my Chrome is old?

Having issues typing in password again, same as before, must type it in twice to get in to the site.

We changed servers last Saturday around 10 - 11am GMT I think.

There were some posts lost in the reboot and there have been one or two issues reported - some of which have been sorted by logging yourself out and then back in again.

The login issue is something I have experienced lots of times over several years. The first option top left of the main page didn't work, and would throw up a second login and password box centre screen which worked perfectly.

Strangely though when I logged out yesterday to check if a failing admin permission issue I had, would correct itself, I logged straight back in with the top left option.

Bugman has been watching and listening.
