Templars of Sigmar
« on: November 15, 2017, 12:47:50 PM »
After reading the Knightly Order supplement from Warhammer Armies Project (WAP, http://warhammerarmiesproject.blogspot.nl/search/label/Knightly%20Orders), the Templars of Sigmar got my attention, and is something I would like to field in my next game. It also gives me a chance to gather a true regiment of witch hunter models, which I like! (currently have 5: the 8th edition Witch Hunter, Johann, Wilhelm, Avatars of War's Witch Hound/Inquisitor, Raging Heroes' Gretchen von Königsmark)
It's on page 36 and they have the following stats:
M4 WS4 BS3 S3 T3 W1 I3 A1 Ld8
13 points
unit size 5+
hand weapon, brace of pistols, light armour
Hatred @ Warriors of Chaos & Daemons of Chaos
Skirmish

And have the 'Blessed' special rule, which makes their attacks magical and gain MR(1) themselves.

How would you use these guys (and gal(s)) in battle? And what unit size?

EDIT:
Btw, still need to think of something for Gretchen in a unit, since she doesn't fit on a 20mm base  :/

They're effectively an anti-Chaos skirmishers and should probably used as such.

How big/small a unit would be practical/fun?

they seem rather pricey for what they do. I guess minimum size, have them slink around in forests and take pot shots? If you take bigger units skirmishers get a rather large footprint which makes it hard to avoid getting charged or not being in the way of your combat blocks.

If minimum size is 5, that's what I'd go for, and besides, having five means five conversions for fun!
