Nobody mentioned Vikingane - the Norsemen, the Viking comedy series from a couple of years back?

Here's the English trailer:

Well, that song or melody is not more viking than knights are viking. Year 1300 lots of things had changed and music was heavily influenced by the current trends in medieval music. The viking age was long past and if you would ask about vikings people would just look strangely at you and shake their heads.

Then they may just kill you because you were a stranger and you better be sure. Talking about pirates and being from far away. Anyway, there was no real penalty for killing someone far of like an englishman in at least Sweden back then.

Yep, the thought crossed my mind that 1300 wasn't exactly the Viking Age.  Oldest known Norse song, and provided in 4 takes on it.  If anyone knows of a real Viking tune, that'd be news, them being all cultured killing people and pillaging stuff. :icon_wink: :icon_lol: :engel:

Here is an actual work from the Viking Age (ca. 850) - but not from Vikings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32VFBeqNQbQ

The excavation of that ship above has been completed.

And here is a related video with some nice animation regarding the area, including comments regarding the various remains of long houses that have been found there, and also various burial mounds ...

Did the Vikings make it all the way to Minnesota :icon_question:

In the regional accent ... MinnisOta ... hopefully ya get it.  Although I digress.

Here is a video of a guy canoeing the along the Kelso River in the Boundary Waters area on the north edge of the state ...

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyvgy0F5b1E

... it's worth a viewing for the scenery alone!

I won't share the videos concluding remarks.  However, I am seriously skeptical that the "dolman" is what some might claim it to be.

That makes more sense. Vikings in America "100 years before Columbus", I am more interested in the time travel device that got Vikings to show up in the 1392.

Well, anything scandinavian related from the medieval period is viking, right?

I hate bloody vikings! A bunch of lazy folk pillaging defenceless sites and running as soon as serious opposition  showed up.
And if they raider back home they were sure to stay away from home when retaliation came knocking and torched the village.

One if the funnier episodes was sometime after Lindisfarne a monastery learned that vikings were coming their way from farmers fleeing the marauders.
The monks prepared a hasty defence. And then they beat the living daylight out of the vikings, sent them packing and captured their leader.
