That is a lot  of crud stuff. :icon_eek:

I'm imagining that it's going to be pricey. :icon_neutral:

Looks like a roleplaying game and a half, with plenty of nasty McEvils for the adventurers to face.

It looks slightly bigger then the other Warhammer Quest games, so I am expecting something of a price increase. Which is sad, but I really like everything so far.

Just for comparison, here's the last two Quest games.

It looks very similar to Blackstone Fortress. (Which is easily one of my favorite games with great models.)

And here's Silver Tower which is the last AoS Quest game.

This boxed set could be able to fit into a fantasy roleplaying campaign I've got going on with nephews.

If I recall correctly, isn't Blackstone Fortress a sci-fi game?

Yup Blackstone Fortress is the 40k version of Warhammer Quest, but technically they're all under the same label, or division I guess. Warhammer Quest is what they call their more roleplay/board game style box sets. So Blackstone Fortress, Silver Tower, Hammerhall or whatever it was called, and now this one.

That’s a nice box set. Really tempted although the cost may be dear. It will probably sell out quick to

Yep, I suspect saving my pennies is going to be wise ... it just looks like too good of a set not to pick one up.

"Radukar the Wolf saved the city in its darkest hour, but his benevolence didn’t last. Claiming the Ebon Citadel, he surrounded himself with fiends, lackeys, and fellow creatures of the dark, forming his Thirsting Court. For a time peace reigned. Then came the Shyish Necroquake, and the Wolf found himself infused with dark power.

Sallying forth from his castle, Radukar and his court embarked on a murderous rampage. Some were deemed worthy of the Blood Kiss and were turned into vampires themselves – countless others were left as corpses strewn across the streets. The city now stands on the precipice of total doom. Are there any that would risk their lives and their very souls to save it?"

He'll make a good bad guy in the streets and underworld of the city that I've placed well south of Tobaro.

Or perhaps I might place him in command of some ruinous mountain side tower to the west of the city.

I'm already planning to slot more or less the whole city on some islands my campaign group as been fighting over. We have a long running narrative that our wars have caused an increase in pirates and other nairdowells gathering in the islands. I like the idea of a undead city rules over by a vampire ogre giving shelter in exchange for food.

Very Kislev themed to.

Kislev styled Man Eater is this fellows future for me.

I will most certainly be picking this up. Only the server tray zombies I find a bit crappy, and Dwarf Skycaptain of tomorrow not really interested in. The rest looks all good. Paladin lady clearly getting a quartered red and blue with stars and suns coat of arms.

I am very meh on the zombies. Someone on reddit was saying all the undead are very eastern european themed, and vampiric folklore there actually does include burying a possible zombie face down with a stake through the heart. So I finally that element really neat, but also means these guys were buried like 2 feet underground tops and then brought the whole tombstone with them.

Dwarf guy I do really like though. A much grittier kharadron. I'm thinking I'll change up the backpack thing and make him a monster hunting pirate captain.

Dwarf is a bit too steam punk for me, could've put a crossbow or handgun in his hand it would have been more to  my liking.

Perhaps the zombies can skip or clip off the things on their backs? And maybe even the dwarf can be converted.  He's got a mini-harpoon?

I'm also thinking the painting on the dwarf could be different and it'd might change my view of the figure.

Some of the others aren't perfect, the wizard with the too long beard, although perfection isn't needed.

If its $300 in au, that'll be $235 in US or there abouts.

Thinking on the price ... there's been a rumor that the boxed set would cost $300 in US.  I suspect that's a plant price by some unknown GW higher up employee, so that when they release it with the real price, then folks won't complain as much.  Drop a high sticker rumor, and then folks will be more accepting of a lesser, yet still higher than previous prices.

Plus remember ... the Indomitus boxed set was $170 via GW initially, and typically $199 in local hobby stores around here.  So I am guessing $235 in U.S. dollars isn't far off from what it'll actually be, if not the actual price.

I think the 235 price is very reasonable. 50 miniatures plus every else. I have no problem paying that. Cdn amount adjusted of course. If I’m lucky I can get in the first 30 seconds it comes out. 😺

I'll be calling my favorite local game shop, and "preordering".  He won't even need to take my money, he knows I'm good for it.

Todays article is a deeper look into the fluff behind the Cursed City, including how the vampire took over. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/02/22/the-one-alliance-that-turned-prosperous-mournhold-into-the-cursed-city/

Read all the fluff, including the stuff on the link Cursed City site page and the map on it.  It's working in a way, although not my favorite style.  Some of the reluctance to go with it lies in it being a bit too much over the top for me, almost as if  magic is explaining a lot, yet fantasy being what it is, there is a sense of it that is good enough.  Adapting and playing with the ideas, is likely a good way to go.
