i love these guys

so i thought i would have a go at making some variant rules for them:

conscript peasants

these guys are just villagers who have been pressed into service at the last moment

pts:2
mws bs s t w i a ld
 4 2  2  3 3 1 3 1 4

equipment: hand weapons

cowards: if a unit with a larger unit strength than the peasants charges them or passes within 3" of them then they must take a panic test

monks
guys from the local temple

pts9
mws bs s t w i a ld
4  3  3  3 3 1 3 1 7

equipment: hand weapons

hate chaos, skaven, undead

woodsmen
guess what they are

pts8
mws bs s t w i a ld
4  3  3  3 3 1 3 1 7

equipment: great weapons

can move through woods freely with no penalty
may spend a turn "chopping" and for every man in the regimant 1" of wood which they are in contact with can be removed

just a few idea i have had: improvements? other ideas?

I like the pesents as they are like the skaven slaves = cannon fodder

The preist is cool

the woodsmen, romoval of woods is good but for some reason I don't think it should be there

Lol I love it.

I have to disagree with the Woodsman though. Felling a tree with an axe would take two men nearly an hour on average.  Of course this depends on the size of the tree and their skill.

You should come up with a warhammer scenario and field your cowardly pesants and monks.  The new bretonian peasants models are coming out soon!  There are also some good mordheim angry mob pesants which i intend to field as free company!

Not so sure it would take a man two hours to chop a tree - have you seen any of those Lumberjack challenges on ESPN before....those guys are a trip.

The woodsmen thing is clever.  Now that I think about it...over half the Empire is forest (in the fluff)...shouldn't there be a unit that can move through it without penalty?
For Sigmar and the Empire!

I can just imagine peasants in an Empire army. I bet the moment the Elector Count gave an order, you'd get dissent such as:

"Real power is derived from the people, not some outdated aquatic ceremony. I mean, if I went round saying some watery tart lobbed a scimitar in my direction and made me king, they'd put me away!"
Famous Quotes from History:

"To beat the French."

The Iron Duke summarises his battle plan at Waterloo.

Lol! The woodsmen would be great. Take that wood elf. by the way dont archers and huntsmen move through trees freely?

If the Bretonnian peasant models look rabid enough, I'll use those as my free company instead.

Such a great idea!!

And there's so many other options for free company troops as well:

Drunks: 5 points per model
m 2
ws 2
bs 1
s 2
t 3
w 1
i 1
a 1
ld 10

Hand weapon (broken bottle)
Unbreakable due to not feeling pain.
Drunk: Move in a random direction at a random speed
Skirmish: obviously.

Grave diggers: 9
m 4
ws 3
bs 3
s 3
t 3
w 1
i 4
a 1
ld 7

Fight with great weapon (spades)
Immune to poison attacks
Stubborn (they're not easily scared)
+1 point: Light armour.

Republicans (or conservatives) 23 points per model
m 0 (They're conservatives, they don't believe in moving)
ws 0 (They get others to fight for them).
bs 5*
s 3
t 1 (they're totally spineless)
w 1
i 3
a 0 (they get others to fight for them)
ld 11

Don't use weapons
bs5* it's the BS attack (can't say it out loud). They just bog the enemy down with a constant string of verbal BS.

They can't be attacked, lawyers bog the enemy down with bureaucracy..

Republicans *shakes his head*

Peasants and Monks (well Grail Pilgrims anyway) will both be in the new Bretonnian list.  I think huntsmen suffice for woodsmen as you can usually take an inch off a wood because of how the piece is modelled.

I definitly like drunks...only I think they'd be better...frenzied if defending their local tavern, hatred if it's been razed....and they'd definitly be stronger (how many people have NOT seen a bar fight?).
