8th Edition Rules Quesiton: Warrior Priest and Hatred

Yvain:
First round of combat and someone kills the Warrior Priest at initiative step 5. Do my state troops lose hatred because the priest is dead? Or do keep it because it was granted to them by the priest and they are in the first round of combat.

Warlord:
Pretty sure the Priest needs to be alive.
But its been a long time since I have looked at the rules.

Empire AB p. 36: "The Warrior Priest, and any unit he is currently in, has the Hatred special rule. "

If the WP is dead, he is not in the unit anymore.

I recalled reading somewhere that the order of things doesn't matter in this case, but I guess I was wrong.

Perhaps you confused it with the Battle Prayers: these will remain active, until the next friendly Magic phase, whether or not the WP is alive.
