General charge from all units forward, and the Chaos Cannon failed it's leadership test ! Rolling 11!

Magic shutdown by my 2 WP, AL, and 3 Wizard's who channelled 2 6's!
Wulfric and his marauders fail to come on!

Empire Turn 1.
Mediocre artillery blasting, sorceror on foot goes down, everyone braces for impact in forthcoming CC.
Magic , some nice damage to the warriors, using metal, otherwise a poor roll of 5+ 1 for winds.

T2.
Chaos surge forward as shown in the 4th pic.
WUlfric fails to come on again!
Empire artillery strikes hard!
The HBVG rolls 22 shots, taking 4 unsaved wounds on the Chaos Knights, with a cannon finishing the mounted Nurgle sorceror, no magic for chaos!
Magic focusing on buffing my knights with Enchanted thingy of Aibon and Bironas Timewarp,
armour piercing, +1 to hit, + 1 attacks, with hatred !! ::heretic:: ::heretic:: ::heretic::
The knights with their buffs and steel standard slam into the chaos warrior horde with general!!
I rolled 22 wounds, but somehow he saved 8 rolling 6's for his ward?!!!!! UUURRRG
My general challenged his general and then I revealed my VHS!!!
Still 14 warriors went down, killing 7 knights in return.
My Halberds had flank attacked and took out 3 more warriors,
My swordsmen decided to charge the giant as all my artillery had been focussed on the centre.
40 Halberds in the left centre also engaged 5 trolls, (he lost 4 wounds to artillery on his one unit of 6 trolls).

Rest of the game highlights.
Throg flank charged my knights, and tried to use his once in game breath attack (no AS :( ),
anyway he rolled a 3 on 2D6 ROFL!

My knights and Halberds eventually killed the chaos warriors, but I lost all 20 knights and the mounted WP.
My artillery and halberds decimated his trolls and ogres, and the giant routed my 30 swordsmen bus, but then got grape shotted by cannon!
My huntsmen and pistoliers kept harassing on the right all gamer unabated.
Wulrik came on in Turn 3 next to my 50 swordsmen who had reformed to face right,
this was the only spare board edge i left him !
His marauders then got pinned by my halberds and swordsmen ,
they did me some damage but I held fast,
in the end i battered them down from 2 pronged attacks.

He was tabled by Turn 4 !!!
Nothing left, all destroyed , not even one unit fled off the board, I literally carnaged everything!

I dropped him at the station this morning, and he was still cursing and mumbling about a strategy rethink,
hehe
My knights with steel standard and lances, warrior priest and gen with COC and VHS and dawnstone, are amazing if they get the charge off,
which is likely as they can wait and then get a guaranteed long charge range.
It's crucial to have 3 wizards also, as i was able to use the metal and fire signature spells over and over , and also kept getting channelling 6's.

nice work, chaos can is always scary, especially if you slip up. looks like you took it right too him!

Were his chosen....Khorne AND Tzeentch marked? I think this is not possible.
If your friend wants some advice on list building I could offer some help and ideas to give you a run for your money.....overall I think Chaos has it hard to defeat Empire.

Hi 35 standard warriors had the mark of Tzeentch , and the blasted banner , 5+ ward vs shooting attacks,

If he wants to field chosen...why no 3+ ward safe most of the times?
Take the favour of the gods on the chosen champion
take the terror causing banner on the unit.
He can re roll most of the results until he gets stubborn and 4+ (tzeentch 3+) ward save....
if this is too cheesy I would suggest hand weapons and shields for 5+ in cc on top of the 5+ vs shooting or give them halberds it is a shame to use great weapons with an initiative of 5.
He needs much more small units as war machine hunters at least 4 units of hounds or even better marauder horse with flails.
Instead of the one big Wulfric unit I would suggest two units of 30 marauders in horde with flails and mark of khorne he made it very easy for you to priorize your targets the coming in from the rear is not as good as 3 large hordes surging towards him from turn one. Khorne marauders dish out 40 S5 attacks on I4 not too bad if you ask me...of course some might die to mortar fire but than those are not firing on something else.
he should try to keep the deathbringer within the bsb range
No ogres...more trolls if he wants go go beastly.
Have I mentioned marauder horse yet?

well I hope to meet you at the bash and if we feel like it we could ask soth to borrow me some of his warriors and we could see how a fight would turn out.
I will come with Empire....
See it like this if your friend plays with better armies it forces you to play better too...you will become a better general with a higher challenge.
(hear the whispers of tzeentch to tell your friend how to use chaos properly).

My 2012 problem is that I have 2 stag do's 2 weddings, and 2 holidays to attend , and only 25 days annual leave to match up.
