Greetings mates. I've been a proud Empire player since last june. I started the hobby six months before with high elves (bleh). At the moment my small army consists of following
Mounted Captain (made of knights and spare parts)
Warrior Priest (painted)
Mounted Warrior Priest (made of knights and spare parts)
Master Engineer (made completely of spare parts by my friend, it's awesome)
20 x swordsmen (painted)
10 x halberds (almost painted)
10 x halberds
10 x handgunners (painted)
6 x knights
5 x pistoliers (painted)
1 x mortar + crew (painted)
1 x rocket battery + crew
So this really doesn't allow a diverse list. Basicly my list consist of a core block of swordsmen with full command and a detachment of halberdiers. I proxy an extra rank to swordsmen and usually use my shadow warriors as an archer detachment, they actually go quite well, maybe I'll convert them to empire. Other core slot is filled with handgunners, usually with hochland and a musician. In special I use inner circle knights, pistoliers and a mortar. Special is filled with rocket battery. Heroes vary, sometimes I proxy with my high elven wizards too.
This list is around 1300 pts which is common in our group atm. I haven't been losing so bad that I did with my elves, they didn't suite me and my favored playing style at all, but I usually don't gain victories against Skaven or Wood Elves. Orcs haven't been a problem but the player is even more amateur than I, so no pride there.
Problem with Wood Elves is that they out maneuver me heavily. I'm really putting an effort into use of detachments but I still suck in it. I'm not really that afraid of their shooting, since its usually only str3, causing only minor losses in the first rounds. I've learned to keep knights far from waywatchers and not to get charged by those bladeskirmishers. I think my Wood Elven friend plays quite a fair list since he doesn't like doing what everyone else does, generally I enjoy our games. Usually no dryads or treemen.
Our Skaven player is the most pro of us. I lose to him in everything. I am amazed how he maneuvers his troops so efficiently. He really seems to design traps 2 rounds ahead! I have a lot to learn from him, and really don't wonder why I lose. But I still hate skaven

What I want my Empire army to be, is mass infantry with scattered war machines. So next thing I desperately need is 30 swordsmen more. Maybe another mortar. I know I should use cannons but I like mortars more. I always fire my mortars in blind trust to Sigmar, my men will not get hit even if fire to fighting lines, and if they do their faith was not strong enough. I wish to get fame as a reckless general, who wins with alternative tactics. Really doesn't matter how much you lose, if you win with something that is against the odds, then that is what will be remembered.
Thank you for reading, I was a bit bored
