Demi-lancer models
« on: March 09, 2013, 10:12:02 PM »
Does anyone know any range of models that has a demi-lancer model that would fit with the Emire for warhammer?  I know there are no rules for them but I want some regardless :)

I would say that 'pistoliers as demi-lancers' idea is a good one, but if you're trying to be accurate in terms of what they would really be like, don't give them guns. Basically pistoliers with kight shields and lances would be best I.M.O.

In Dan Abnett's  Riders of the Dead the Demi-lancers did had pistols. That is what I based these guys off of.

Other guys you could use:

Perry Miniatures Mounted men at arms could work as well if you don't give them barding

Errm, O.K. I have not read 'Riders of the Dead' in a LLLLOOOONNNNGGG time, and so was not aware of this. But I.M.O those pistoliers are not done right. They should either wield their pistols and be shooting or their lances and be charging - not both at once. Fantasy wargame or not, that just doesn't seem like it would happen on the battlefield, for one thing the lances are too bulky/clumsy for it....

That's fine. I just used what I had. I like them that's all that matters.

They have an assortment of weapons though as you never see the demi-lancers in full other than the command cadre with the main characters. Modelling them with pistols is fine to me as I think they would probably have one to use after their lance broke in the opening engagement. Though I'd probably be more keen to give them light spear looking lances rather than the heavy ones from the Knights kit.

To the OP, if you can get over the bonnets and lighter armor you could consider Scots Lancers from the Civil Wars say like the Warlord ones. Scale would be a bit of an issue. Working with the Pistoliers kit is probably you best bet for scale bashing in Greatsword parts and various other armored bits.

demi lancers have lance and pistol, historically, so lance and pistol makes sense for warhammer

" In addition to the lance the demi-lancer would be armed with one or two pistols, housed in saddle holsters, and a sword"

I know it's wiki, but it's true anyway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demi-lancer
I don't care about the rules.

Pass the machete.

That's not what I meant. I'm saying he should not model the lancer holding a lance AND a pistol, at the SAME TIME!!

Great suggestions guys, still loving those pistolier mods though - although the perry minatures mounted men at arms would work and are cheaper.

Way I see them in shooting and then concentrating on driving the lance home!
