Is this the hardest unit in the game to kill?
« on: September 26, 2013, 11:53:09 AM »
I found this on the comments section of 3++ is the new black and thought I would share it.  It was in a discussion of how to beat tau and chaos daemons came up

4 Level 3 Heralds on Disks in a Screamer unit, with Fatey along to re-roll failed Grimoire checks. The Heralds go for the 4+ invulnerable power for their squad, then the Grimoire pushes it down to 2++. With Tzeentch's "re-roll 1s" inherent ability, if it gets both the psychic power and the Grimoire test it's basically unkillable on that turn. With jetbike movement, it's shooting/assaulting the Tau on Turn 2.

Wraith units are pretty tough.

Surely a lot of points though. Sound like immense fun to play against.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

I would assume so.  Really though, how much damage can it do in the game?

A unit with 4 level 3 divination capable wizards?  None surely   :-D

Screamers have a fair few attacks, including the option to do ap2 and each model does d3 s4 hits when flying over an enemy unit.

I mean, if they got assaulted or stuck in with the wrong unit, the amount of damage they could do in a game owuld be limited probably, making their virtual invincibility less important.

How much would the average unit cost?

Well the unit is quite decent in combat.  Each screamer has either 3 attacks at s4 or 1 at s5 ap2.

For 4 heralds, level 3 and disk its 480
For a maximum of 9 screamers its 225.  Making the unit 605pts.  You can add some random bling like power weapons to the heralds if you really want for another 40pts.

Its actually quite cheap for unit with so many attacks and that is virtually unkillable.
