This is a great cannon from game zone,  spanish miniatures company. The 28mm crew figures fit in nicely with GW's figures. It is all metal and it was easy to assemble. steveb

Here are a few odds and ends that I have done; the first is a road warden (my interpretation of myself in the Warhammer world) armed with his trusty blunderbuss and tons of ammo

 A witch hunter

A foot hero

Next is an engineer:

A hero to lead the troops,

A battle standard bearer fresh from Lustria;

Lustrian Expeditionary force Ship's crew halbadiers and detachments:

A unit of pygmy huntsmen, these fellows are armed with blow pipes and stealth.

a stirland noble takes the field with his household men, games keepers, huntsmen, poacher? woodsmen etc, also his hunting hounds accoutnant wine steward etc.  basically everyone he doesn't trust to leave home alone. The men of stirland are happy to go for an excursion, meanwhile the wives of the men are busy at home taking care of business,

these are the elders of the pygmy tribe, they are all converted into long spears.

This is the 114th transport regiment.  Every army needs a supply unit to bring the supplies forward to the troops and if necessary fight their way through to those in need. I was sitting on a group of Mordheim dregs and no idea what to do with them, when I put the fact that they look like they are carrying things and remembered the story of the supply coloumn in Iraq? that made a wrong turn and had to fight there way out of a bad situation.  So I took the dregs and added stuff to them, (anything I could find) made a standard and created the 114th transport regiment. I count them as swordsmen.

This the a unit of swordsmen from the highlands of one of the mountainous provinces. They are converted from the old empire command legs and various militia bits and all.  They were fun to do, but I remembered why I usually put my scots in grey trousers. painting plaid drives me crazy.

This is the Royal Marching band, they count as halberds, there is one detachment so far, the cheerleaders and they count as swordsmen. I am planning on making a drill team/honor guard/drill team rifle armed detachment but just haven't gotten around to it yet. The thought of white rifles scares me, or is it the chromed helmets?

This is a unit of converted Kislev infantry. The bodies are the wood elves from the original plastic Regiment, the heads are dwarf heads from the same box and a little gs work here and there.  The second unit used the same bodies but for the head I used the goblin head from the same regiment box because the helmet worked for me.

This is a unit of the Marienberg Marines, they stayed loyal to the emperor when Marienberg split. Their commander Chesty says that his men are the best, they are all in demi armor with boarding sabres.  Their motto is semper fracken moistus it means "always fracken wet"

this is the black fire pass snow patrol.

This is an Averland crossbow unit taking the field in defense of the Empire.

This is a regiment of sharpshooters, they were specially trained in Hochland and were issued a new Engineer college invention, the wondrous sausage and marshmallow roaster rifle attachment.  Some say that engineer Roy L. Dufuss designed it so that he could stick his rifle in the ground muzzle down so that the butt stuck so that he could find his rifle in the tall grass.  Any way the troops have found a new use for it, when recieving a charge they shoot first and then recieve the charge as spearmen their new roasting attachment being put to a useful use.

These are the warrior priests of Morr, they guard the temples and study the death and life lores. They also take
the field with the Priests and act as their body guards in the midst of battle.

This is my Kislev war altar for the priest of Ursus, there is an honor guard of archers/axemen that always marches with the altar.

This a Nuln pike unit with detachment.

I decided to use some Nordland units in my army, so I painted up these old GW crossbowmen.  Lead is sometimes real fun to paint, its just a different feel than plastics.

This is a border regiment from Ostland/Kislev it kind of depends on what day of the week it is.  They are all conversions, inspired by a Polish/Eastern European style Mordheim warband that I saw on a GW site.  The banner is two sided and I had to glue on a mascot stand/filler to keep the standard from falling over.

These are some huntsmen that live off the land, they carry axes daggers and bows and anything edible that they can lay their hands on.

These are some regiments of the Reiksguard foot brigade. three are armed with swords one with mace/flail and the last is two handed swords.

This halbadier regiment is the Averland Canaries, they are 30 halberd strong with two 15 man detachments. they were based and dipped and then retouched.  steveb

This is some heavy support for the Infantry, the cohen brothers, they put on a fine show when they go into combat.

This is the crypt builders regiment of the army of Morr, some one has to build the crypts to hold the dead and they occaisionally have to clear out uncooperative occupants. so I guess you could say that they are combat engineers of a sort.  I had to make use of unit fillers, I acquired this box in a group deal and didn't feel like buying another so I built up their numbers with unit fillers.

this my ogre gun line with support ogres, proud to serve the Emperor.

This regiment is the Wissenland Pikes with detachments.

This regiment is the foot Knights of the Brotherhood of Morr, they are converted Chaos warrios.

This regiment is an Altdorf swordsmand regiment, the figure are old Battlemasters figures that have been converted by adding militia arms to the figure, they are not quite as tall as most figures but they do rank up and they were made by GW even though the game was sold by Milton Bradley, they are tornament elegible.

This crossbow regiment is from ostland, they were done as part of the front rank conversion contest and unit filler contest.

This is the Wissenland Eternal Guard.  Long ago a Wissenland army was trying to escape a powerful foe, they had been ambushed and needed to regroup and go on the attack again. They needed to make it through the pass in the mountains so that they could join up with their reinforcements who were coming up from behind. The General called for volunteers who would hold the pass for the good of the army and Wissenland. Roland the commander of the Wissenland Guard stepped forward and proclaimed that the guards would hold the pass forever in order that Wissenland would survive.  The guard stepped forward behind their Commander and gave three cheers. The commander ordered his guard into the narrowest portion of the pass.  The guard stood in their ranks across the width of the pass with looks of grim determination on their faces. Knowing that they were buying time and life for their province and fellow soldiers at the cost of their own lives. As the army retreated they could hear Roland blowing his mighty horn to rally his troops over and over again as they repelled countless attacks, the call of the horn echoed through the mountain pass and finally was no more.  The Army rallied, filled out with fresh reinforcements they returned to the pass only to find it empty, the ground itself was blood soaked and churned into a dark red mud, the only thing left was the banner of the regiment stuck into a cairn in the center of the pass, a last honor rendered by the foe who respected courage and determination. Now, when the forces of Wissenland are in dire straits, there are reports of a mighty fog bank out of which sounds the eerie blast of a mighty horn and then the shapes of the Wissenland eternal guard shuffle forth to add their might and undying resolve to the forces of Wissenland. Let the enemies of Wissenland beware the guard are ever vigilant.  Long live Wissenland!

This is the huntsman regiment that I painted up for Wissenlander, in the great army painting drive so that he would no longer have to field bare plastic. I added Brettonian bits and stretched sprue bow strings to the figures that he sent me to paint.  They look better on the table top, for some reason the camera was not kind to them.

As every army has a banner bearer, I think that every army should have a chief musician. Here is mine. The idea is taken from illustrations in several GW books of several edition periods.  The figure itself is resin and was found in a souvenier shop in Branson MO. it was a fisherman bear.  After removing fishing pole and fish and other small stuff, I GS a vest and hat and scratch built him a drum and drum stick. so here is my army musician.   He is about 6 or 7 inches tall and I think could count as a giant or as the tsar's great bear for his stats.  steveb

Here is one of my Engineers who is in charge of engineering supplies.  steveb

These are some Sea Elves who work off the coast of Nordland, sometimes to aid ships of the empire and sometimes, it is susupected that they dont. They sometimes hang out in Marienberg, with lots of money. Just dont drink with them as it might result in a lifetime at the oars.  steveb

This is the Lustrian pike regiment with detachments. This regiment was formed from the survivors of the original expeditionary army to Lustria. In one of the final battles they slaughtered a Slann mage, the temple guard had broken and ran, the slann's last command to them was do not leave me! guard me! stay with me! and so on. By the time they had rallied the slann was dead and surrounded by  these pikemen who incidentally had the same color scheme as the slann and temple guard, this caused some confusion in the guard ranks. In the end they decided to stay with the slann and guard his corpse as it was his last wish.  The pikes had him stuffed and mounted and now take him everywhere with them.  I count the slann as a unit filler for pikes and the temple guard as swordsmen with armor and shield, the other detachment is a unit of handgunners who learned to live off the land, as indeed the whole regiment has scrounged items from the battlefield in order to stay fully equipped.

This is an Amazon unit that came back from Lustria with the remenants of An Averland expeditionary army, they with other indigent units and the remainder of the original forces have formed what the Emperor calls his Lustrian army.

This is a Middenheim handgunner unit that is made up of recruits that have never hit the field, they are eager and ready to perform.

This bigun he is an Empirial giant who is a corporal in the state forces, I am not sure which province or regiment, I think he ate them all or something, anyway if there is a battle he shows up to fight, his batttle cry is "I be showing dem sarge!"

I didn't like his bare butt hanging out so I GS'd bigun a pair of pants and a vest/jacket and a hat with feather, he struts about now saying I'se a proper corp'l now.

This is the nordland farmer's grange regiment and detachments.  Their Colonel is 70 year old Angus MacDonald, yes he does have a farm and a dog named Bingo.  The battle cry of the regiment is EEEIIIIEEEEIIIIIII OOOOOOH.  The one fanatic that you see is Brewster, he is actually a graduate of the agricultural college of Altdorf and is a fanatic about crop rotation, so he wears a fanatics robes inorder to get people to ask him why, nobody asks twice.

The Jester was made from a night goblin with two extra hoods glued on and a little facial work, he was sent to this regiment by the elector count in order to cheer them up, but after too many it was a dark rainy night and these three merchants saw a farmhouse type of joke he was conscripted by the colonel and put to serve in the ranks.  steveb

This is the Pygmy brigade of the Lustrian army. These are a long out of production figure by GW who pulled them from production because some people complained about the caricature nature of the figures.  My brigade is currently made up of three regiments of spearmen and a regiment of huntsmen armed with blow pipes there are also two witch doctors that travel with them.

A unit of stabby shooters, the burgemeisters wanted spearmen and the count wanted gunners......so the compromised and gave the gunners bayonets so that they can fight as spearmen in hand to hand......

Having a bunch of loose figures with axes, I decided to put together a unit of former wood cutters; the "Axe men" still looking for a wolverine as a unit filler......

Halfling militia straight from the streets of the Moot.  The figures are from miniature giant if I remember correctly. steveb

This is another Ostland crossbow regiment, the men are not too enthusiastic, they say their unit commander is so stupid that he would probably try to milk a bull.

No, no way, 50+ hours a week and exracuricular activities. I am just fast and efficient. steveb

Game Zone infantry, going to be the core of my Estalian army, these figures rank up with GW just great, in fact there are several hidden in the unit.

This is a Stirland pike regiment converted from the old Altdorf Halberdiers, used 7th edition parts on the command group.

This is an Imperial Dwarf Spear regiment raised by the Dwarf Merchants of Talabheim. They help the Eperor defend the Empire. No one calls them shorty or runt more than one time.  I count them as Empire spearmen and use empire stats for them.

These are the Hobbit spearmen of the Boar's Head Inn.  A most favored spot of the Hobbit adventurers, when they heard that the forces of chaos would destroy their beloved watering hole in the next attack, they all immediately formed the Boar's head Inn spearmen regiment. So far they are undefeated and the Inn is untouched.

This is another Amazon Unit from the Emperor's Lustrian Legion. With unit fillers.

This is another pygmy unit for the Lustrian Legion.  I was faced with having 15 or so extra witch doctors and decided they looked like drummers to me, so I decided to do a jungle drum like in old the old time movies. the rest I converted into spear/halberds. I think that it works well as a unit.

This is Von Dorf's rifle regiment:

Nippon Ogre Spear (ningata) fighters.

Got to love every topic steveb starts.

Your bound to find something new in every one of them, your bound to find models in the multitudes, and bound to find plenty a different color expression!

Your collection must be the size of legends, just thinking about walking into your workspace leaves me overwhelmed ^^.
Keep it up, truely inspiring.
