I've just had a little closer look at the ECW sprues.
A box for £18.00 gives you 3 main sprues and a command sprue.
The links to the sprue pics are earlier in the thread if you want exact detail, but simply there are 13 one-piece legs and torso on the main sprue and 3 on the command sprue.
The figures are a bit smaller than GW - I reckon 25mm as opposed to 28mm - the heads particularly are quite small.
Due to the type of clothing though they are quite chunky.
I am not sure quite how the 13th figure works out - it's a spare for some reason, but you can make 4 pike and 8 shot off each sprue.
The pikes are plastic and you get two upright, one angled and one forward.
Most of the bodies have no arms at all, so there is a right and left arm option for the muskets.
As it is, you have to say it is a great kit - 42 minis for the £18.00
You get a command sprue with musician (drum or flute) and standard options, and various weapons. The main sprue has add-on sheathed swords for the troopers, and there are a couple of Musket positions, and there are gun rests for those firing.
Also the heads are designed to take a hat, and there are several choices of those - even a couple of morions.
However matching with GW plastics is tricky. The swords particularly are very thin and small compared to our soldier plastics. I think I will try some of the pouffy arms from my Ed6 bits, and they seem ok, but then it makes the heads look even tinier .........
If you are playing ECW or even Border Reivers, then they are very good value. I have considered that several of them might even make a Government / Royal Navy 'crew' in Legends of the High Seas.
I have two boxes, and so I think I will try to make a unit of swordsmen and a unit of pikes/spearmen, with maybe a few handgunners or duellists out of the leftovers.
I don't think they'll mix and match with existing GW troops.
