That's great!  What color wash did you use on his robes?

No wash, I used a base od rakarth flesh and 'blended' up to pure white.

Thank you for all the fantastic support and encouragement, this is why I love this forum.

And this is why I love The Empire miniature range. Finally made my general, a kitbash of 22 different Empire parts and minimal greenstuffing.
I can't wait to paint this bad boy.

You are still a maniacal maniac with all this modeling you're doing. Good job!
Now go! Ride towards the sun atop these noble steeds
You're our spandex heroes, now fullfil your destinies
And so we turned and rode beyond the castle walls
with shiny codpiece armour that doth cradle our chivalrous balls

neat! the white looks great.

I can't quite figure out the model. The owl sits on the guys' shoulder and the clockwork baby sits on the owl? or is it hovering?

also, I find the cod piece and what it implies rather disturbing

Very nice, I like how the hat, owl and cherub balance out the improbably large hammer. Love your whites, too.

The white coat looks amazing! How did you achieve the 'velvety' effect? You mentioned 22 different parts ... where is the coat from?

Hey there dude,

I've recently been trying to do a similar job with the quartering of the exact banners that you've used for a lot of your standards and I find that I have such a difficult time with the quartering... is there some kind of advice you can give me to help me with cutting the banner into quarters the way you have so successfully?

Also, you seem to get so much done so quickly? I'm trying to speed up my painting time but it doesn't seem possible to me... maybe I'm just slow!

I believe the coat is from the Outriders kit.
The coat is the outrider captain's, but it has been shortened and the sword arm removed.

Use a ruler and measure the middle on each edge of the banner. Then use masking tape to create the straight line. Pencil along this line and remove tape before painting. The tape will follow any curves. Hope this helps.

I have finally finished my Halberdier regiment, all 24 with a captain. This elevation of the Burgomeister's mansion is now complete.

Now working on some characters.

Hey Bish,

I've just got one quick question if you don't mind answering it.

I started a Reikland army a year or two ago and only recently started getting confident with painting.

My biggest problem is painting 'clean' whites. How did you accomplish that result on your captain?

Thank you for the compliment folks.

Hey Bish,

I've just got one quick question if you don't mind answering it.

I started a Reikland army a year or two ago and only recently started getting confident with painting.

My biggest problem is painting 'clean' whites. How did you accomplish that result on your captain?

To paint a clean warm white, the captain's coat for example, I start with Rakarth white, paint agrax earthshade into the deepest creases only using a fine brush. Then mix 50:50 rakarth white with pallid witch flesh, then pallid witch flesh. Then edge highlight with 50:50 pallid witch flesh and white scar. I very rarely use pure white. This can be mostly layered although some areas required wet blending for a smooth transition. Good luck.

I have been painting character models recently and have very much enjoyed the break from rank and file.
I have started using image shack, does anyone know how I can make the images appear larger on the page?

Thanks a bundle for the painting advice! I'll give this a go when I get home

Not sure how helpful you'll find this, but I use imgur for all my pictures, they seem to last a long time & i've never had problems with picture scale.

Thanks again!
