Already out. By the way, anybody here have GOG? I have a copy of System Shock 2 to give away.

Nope, the enhanced edition is out but they are going to do a full blown remake and possibly system shock 3.

Finished Far Cry 4 yesterday. Too long and too overblown. The combat was great, the main plot was good, main hero was a moron and I hate the eagles with a passion.

I've never played a Fallout game.  I might have tried Fallout 4 if it wasn't for the uber-fanboyism saturating the Interwebz.  Gushing spooge of that level automatically puts me off anything.

Fallout games usually deliver. The only one that didn't was that old brotherhood of steel action game. The rest were all terrific.

I tried to watch Breaking Bad but just couldn't get into it. Do love the Fallout games though, but this one can wait until next year with a better PC.

If I take the Fallout dive, should I go back to the start, or can I start with 4? Never played a Fallout game.

For the maximum immension in the lore, you should play all the parts with expansions. They are good games, I guess. I just never could fully immerse myself in them.

If you want to, just play the modern versions - 3 and New Vegas. I don't honestly think you'd gain a whole lot by playing the really old ones and at least for me it'd be very tedious because they are pretty old school and unwieldy compared to modern titles. Just read the Fallout wiki entries or something.

3 and New Vegas are both pretty fun, and modern Fallout games are set many years after the first ones so things have changed a bit and moved on. The first Fallout game I played properly was 3 and I didn't miss not playing the others.

id go straight into 4 and if you love it dip back.

It's a lot smoother experience.

I tried to watch Breaking Bad but just couldn't get into it.

Meh.

I don't really watch TV, to be fair. I didn't give it much of a chance, watched three episodes, but it didn't grab me so that was that. I can't "binge watch" TV shows, and if they don't grab me in the first couple of episodes I stop caring.

I just found it really boring. I also don't watch or remotely give a shit about Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.

Yeah, different strokes. I tried with GoT too, but I didn't like the books so it seemed predestined with that one. I prefer the show to the books, but just can't be bothered. Too many characters I simply didn't care about.

I know other people like them and totally accept their value, I just don't like them personally. Sort of how I felt about Skyrim, to bring it back to gaming.

Fallout works for me because of the setting. 3 and New Vegas wouldn't have worked without the setting and humour, I didn't find the actual gameplay all that compelling. I didn't feel like I was making interesting choices and the games were very easy. The VATS system actually took away from it, and I heard in 4 that VATS doesn't slow or pause the action so that's pretty good.

Vats slows but doesn't stop like 3.

It's definitely not as powerful

Seriously, the old Fallouts had great storyline but shit combat. Fallout: Tactics at least improves the latter, while also having a decent plot. Plus it rocked as a Lan-party game.

like the only ones on steam is the visceral clean up, and arkham origin games.  Everything else is dlc or a mobile game.

Oh thats easy.  The greatest holiday movie ever made was Die Hard.

A'ight. Fallout franchise is on Steam sale. Gonna dip my toe in and see if I like it. Any thoughts on FO3 vs FO:NV?
