Wet Palette (how to create your own)
« on: January 26, 2016, 09:53:29 AM »
So I have looked this up myself after I heard it mention a couple of times. And I'm using it myself now for under a week and I'm sold!
The paint is always smooth to use (even a day later if you can use a lit on your palette) and always the correct wetness for nice and smooth layers.

I will never go back to normal palettes (wel actually an old saucer)

Here is a great explanation on how to create one for your own:
(have searched this topic but I saw only references in other topics)

I myself use an old tupperware meat box (the one for slices of meat for your sandwiches) which has a lit on it

Thanks for the link StealthKnightSteg! I've been meaning to give a wet palette a try as I've heard good things. Where did you get hold of the parchment paper?

It's so easy even I do it (though sometimes I get my paint TOO wet)! :icon_wink:

I've just started doing this too and it's really streamlined my painting. I haven't even picked up parchment paper yet, I just been using printer paper and it still works great. Although it tend to make metallics separate.

I've seen a similiar guide somewhere, although in that guide the bottom layer was made from wool (a woolpad or something like that) and the jar had a lid on it so it could be closed after the paint had been used. The guide claimed the paint would stay good for atleast a week. I used it for two days and then didn't paint for days so can't say for sure..

I picked up my second premade palette a little while ago and I've left it for over a week, added some more water to the palette when I went back to it and the paint was fine.  I don't think I could go back to not using one anymore either.
