The game 'exists', but not as we know it...  :-o

If you send something like:

signon ?taal [password]

get

signoff

you will receive a list of who is signed on. When I send that, I get their preferences as well, although you may not on account of not being as super-cool as I am...

So is raging here, or anywhere? Please don't start until I come back from my holiday, setting a leave of absence in the first week is a bit annoying.

Oh, and I've coined the crazy wants-to-know-everything-mindset GM, valmir.

I'll be sending emails.

We won't start until you get back (at this rate, it looks like we'll be needing a new 7th player anyway...).

When exactly is it that you get back? I know it was on another thread, but I'm ever so lazy...

I travel back on the 14th so I've set my absence until the 15th.

If raging's still in morr then we shouldn't need another player.

Well, I do hope we don't need another player, and that Raging will sign up soon. But it's been a while since the invitation e-mail was sent...

Oh, and Guvnor, no worries. We'll surely wait untill you're back.

Oh dear, I forgot to mention that I'll be in Japan of all places from April 11-20. I wont have much access to computers, so I doubt I'll be able to get online. If we start before then, I suppose I could just leave my country for the holiday, and hope it's not gone by the time I return.

Well with me being away 5th-15th and you 11-20th and raging disappeared I think we may have a little waiting in order to start.  :|

I got an email around this time yesterday asking what address he needed to send to to sign up. I replied immediately. But still no signup... Truly, the Kileak is a riddle within a mystery, wrapped inside an enigma... ;)

Even if it is a sign of things to come, there shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as orders are submitted. Diplomacy does not reward irregular communication.

Either way, I'm opening up signups once again. If RagingKileak joins the game before somebody else steps in, that is fine.

If you wish to play, please post your email in this thread (suitably disguised if you are worried about spambots).

That's great!

If you're not already signed up to the judge, you should do so here.

After that, just send
signon ?taal yourpassword
set preference AEFGIRT
signoff

to the judge email adress (change the letter combination to your preference of course, this is just alphabetic). Valmir will send you an invitation mail too, I suppose.

Sent.

Welcome aboard Landschnetze.

Raging is still out there somewhere, so it will come down to who actually signs up to the game first. I find this a little distasteful, but Raging still has Morr, and I'm sure it is only a matter of time until PBEM 6 starts up (Myrmidia?).

Yes, you're in. We're ready to start now.

And yes, I feel sorry for Raging too... Let's hope game 6 starts soon, so he can join in if he wants to.

...and we're away!

With regard to peoples' absences, we have two options:

1. I pause the game, meaning no one can send anything other than a broadcast except to me, or

2. I set a reeeeaally long deadline, this allows people to communicate in the meantime. I'm assuming that most peoples' email access while away will be existent, but minimal.

I would tend to favour the second option, and that is what I will do unless either of our absentees have a particular objection. If this is a problem, I will simply pause the game.

Easy.

And we're off! I got Germany.

So, do we start right away, or do we wait until everyone (Guvnor and Gutsy) is back? If I remember it right, Guvnor was unable to play from 5th-15th, so that leaves only one day before he leaves.

Heya

Ok, I realize I'm still internet illiterate, but I still can't find the "Taal" game on the DPJudge.  I still get the "No such game exists message" but I do get the email.  Is there no map resources etc for this game?

You can go to floc.net to see a map of the game. Alternatively, you can use DipTool to look at the map, a handy program which also allows you to visualize orders and such (use "import game from floc.net" if you use DipTool).

IIRC, DPJudge is a separate judge (like DEDO or USOS) which would be why the game doesn't appear.

Either of cisse's suggestions should work (I use DipTool, and it worked fine for me).

Blast, the newbie guide on the forums has gone missing, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Two questions:

1. How do I get diptool to work?
2. Where is that damned newbie guide?

Erm... do you mean this one? It is about halfway down the page in the Count's Tavern...

Otherwise, there is a more detailed one here
