Some of my huntsmen (I have 10 so far). These are the first models I painted for my Hochland army. If I ha painted them today I´d probably go for less prominent state colours and use more brown and black; more like the xbowmen posted earlier.

I love the one eyed guy as any sort of missile troop, it's just perfect.  You know he's the best shot anyway.

Great looking stuff.  The Hunters of Sigmar are very well done.  They make a unique unit and they look the part.
Me and Wissenlander had babies!

Magnificent!  :-o

THe witch hunters have got to be my favourite, though.
You can say what you want about burglars, but they show initiative, verve, and a willingness to work often unsociable hours.

3 done, 2 to go. Painting horses is time consuming. No extras here. Just assembled and painted.

Updated after finished painted 3/8-10

The Artillery! I love cannons and mortars, at least when they manage to hit something. About that rope I have added hanging in the fron of the cannon. I plan to attach some beastman heads to that. Anyone know what is best to buy if you want beastman addons? I think such tokens would fit a hochland army well. Must be loads of chaos lurking in the forests.

Unless you buy your Warhammer-playing friends, nothing. Just try to find someone with some spare heads - I might even have some in my bitzbox.

I like your painting style, very clean, sometimes a bit bright and yet it feels natural.

A hochland army without a healty number of handgunners is no hochland army. 16 painted so far. Not the best of pics I´m afraid. Need something to keep my camera still. And no, I´m not including that lame monkey.

Adolphus Wolfenbaum

Battle standard bearer of my hochland army. This guy has been around fighting in countless battles. Weathered and hard as hell was the look i tried to accomplish  :icon_mad:

Pistol arm from pistoliers, head from flagellants, banner from the plastic general and the rest from the old plastic state troops.

(in game the pistol is used as a hand weapon)

Thanks!

Boltgun metal washed with badab black then devlan mud. After that highlighted with first boltgun metal followed by chainmail and mithril silver. Quite alot of work but worth it on a character i reckon.

That's what you get from picking a poor province in times of economic crisis: no money to buy gunpowder... :engel:

Very well done, I especially like the armour. Doesn't the banner stick stand in the way of any bases making contact?

Hehe actually I glued him together before I realised that guns are not allowed on army standard bearers :-)

he fits quite well in my halebard unit. Despite them being hard to rank up with sticks poinitng in every direction

Long time no update. But here they are, some tough militiamen used as detachments. I got really inspired by http://www.warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=27027.0 with magnetic bases and his devlan washing technique, great inspiration thx!

They stood their ground very well in my last battle against a vampire army.

next is a 20 strong swordsmen regiment painted in about the same style. I´m going to use Ulli from the Mordheim range as a unit champion.

Nice! I particularly like the Witch Hunter with his dogs, I am looking for those models for my own FC.

Ah yes, but did they stay on their bases?  :icon_lol:

Thanks for the thx, nice to see ideas being swapped, traded and just pinched. Yours look excellent, I think you may be base coating, washing and a single highlight? - looks like that on the green at least. Whatever, they are really nice and fit in with your existing stuff, which is obviously a good thing.

Looking forward to more, though I detect a slow down. Happens to us all.  :icon_cry:

I turned the plastic only base upside down to everybodys amacement  :icon_surprised: . Need some tougher magnet for the metal witch hunter with dogs thou. Then again, it´s almoust enough to have most of the models magnetised.

Yea, base coating, washing and a single highlight is what I have done here. Since I have highligted the rest of my army, I wanted them to look about the same. I plan to use a second highlight on the skin areas. Highlighting skin can really enhance a mini. It´s a matter of time really, so I should leave them as they are and paint that swordsmen unit instead

A unit of halebardiers with detachments. I painted the halberiders before I decided to go for a darker tone. They are a bit too bright for my ever changing taste ;). I think the units go quite well together anyway, so I will keep them as they are. Hope you like!  :smile2:

Great halberdiers, though I do like the darker tone of your free company.

Really get the feel that these witch hunters had taken command of some Hochlanders!

interesting contrast between the brighter and darker styles.  It seems like the crossbows work ok wiht the halberds, and since the freecompany are milita, I'd sya you cna get by with them. :icon_wink: :::cheers:::
