2000 pts witch hunter army

I am making a witch hunter empire army (http://www.warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=27800.msg373788#new) and so i would like to make an army which will be competitive, fluffy (for Witch hunters/sylvanians), and so i will very much appreciate any help and comments i can get for this list:

Heroes:

The list looks pretty crunchy, though I would consider an Icon of Magnus on your captain if this is supposed to be facing undead.

For your last points either and outrider for your pistoliers or a marksman w/ a hochland would be fun.

Well, there are indeed alot of fear causing units out there.. would i be better off with the icon than the rod of command? i would imagine that the rod would come in handy in most games, but then again.. if i flee from fear chargers.. i wouldn't need it at all :S

Anyone tried the dragon bow? should hit harder than hochland rifles, and i would have it count as his vampire slaying pistol shooting silver stakes :D

The rod of command is a great item and can also help deal with fear but you gotta make sure that turn counts.

Really nice to see another Witchunter army . I run a similar list aswell. There are some things I would like to see in a army like this though, if we talk fluff.

1. Warrior Priest - Instead of one of the wizards, sure wizards in a witchhunter army is fluffy but warrior priests are even fluffier!

2. Flagellants! - Remember Mordheim ;). I have 15 * 2 flaggies in my current 2250 witchhunter army. I just like them and they fit the fluff perfectly.

I also have some ideas on how to make the knights fit the fluff. Remember that there are many different knightly orders out there. And some sigmarite knightly orders. For example, Hunters of Sigmar, The Knights of Sigmar's Blood, The Orders of the Hammers of Sigmar. Another order who fits very well are the The Order of the Sacred Scythe who hunt vampires and other undead creatures. Or just make your own order ;). Also have an idea on your pistoliers. I convert mine to look like witchhunter apprentices to make them more unique and fit the theme better. Remember, when a unit doesn't fit your theme make them fit, thats what I do anyway :P. Hope this helps you a little and good luck with your army.

That is indeed great help, thank you..

i thought of the flagellants, but could not find the points for them. might try to fit in a unit of 15 though  :)
i like your avatar - that is the model i want to use as captain, although he is hard to find :(

I see how a WP can fit the fluff, and it might be cool to just have one wizard. i will have 3 bound spells with a AL and WP too, and thats pretty good :)

Neffy, I like the army. I think AL the best best :DDD

However, I would add one thing. You said you dont have much use for your pistoliers.

Think of there role, they have great uses  such as

1) Hunting warmachines
2) March blocking
3) there best skill (imo) is bait and fleeing nasty hard units. For example I watching a game last night where the Choas unit of knights had the ULIMATE KILLING LORD OF DOOM on a Juggernaughter. The unit was about 600pts The unit was frenzied. Your pistoliers (97pts) could have had the unit chasing them around the board for ages.

Pistoliers AWAYS have uses :P  :mrgreen:

Nice points you got there.. I will try to find some of their uses :)

I also referred to the fluffy role i.e how they fit in in the army and what conversions i should do :)

Does anyone have thoughts about what items to give the lonely mage?

Either the rod or 2 dispel scrolls?

Also, i was considering the silver horn and enchanted shield for the captain instead of the rod of command.. would that be a good idea? it is nice to have some high level casting (5+ bound spell) to rally all troops.

I would break up either the handgunners or the crossbowmen into detachments for the core infantry units. If you have the spare points, I would bump them up to no more than 7 each. This gives you additional shooting while still being able to field them in a straight line.

Your Captain could use a barded warhorse.

The Rod of Power with the wizard is fine.

I have written a new list in the top of this thread with the changes i think is essential.

I have added flagellants and a mortar for some change, since i have not tried those units out.
I would love to have the army reach around 2250 pts, so any help to getting there would be nice.

Those detachments with Free company i would add 1 more up to 10 and field them 2x5 cause of the extra attacks. I usually only field 3x3 for pointsdenial - where swordmen shines cause they are harder to kill. If i dont want them to get easy kills to enemy CR i wouldnt charge with the free company detachment anyway.
It could be a spaceoption you would field them as 3x3, but those extra attacks they can dish out is usually worth it.

The last extra points i would make the blocks bigger. Maybe more Greatswords?
