Historicon 2010 ...
« on: March 26, 2010, 01:43:56 AM »
Historicon 2010 is scheduled for July 8th to the 11th.

Theme ... "Pike and Shot: 17th Century European Warfare, 1600-1699

And get this ... its in Valley Forge, PA, not Baltimore this year. :icon_biggrin:

That increases the likelihood I might attend.  Its closer, and I've got family in the area. :icon_cool:

Yep, this means a good deal of the game refs will have "pike and shot" games set up for folks to participate with, although there will be other eras available to choose from as well.

Me and Wissenlander had babies!

I've been wanting to go to Historicon for the last two years, but there's always been issues and being in Baltimore last year and Gettysburg the year before was tempting.  Being in Valley Forge this year makes it more tempting.

I think you're thinking of several different conventions, all of which are hosted by HMGS-East.

Historicon has usually been in Lancaster, but was slated to move to Baltimore starting in 2010. Something went down with the contract in Baltimore, so they moved it to Valley Forge instead.

Cold Wars is usually held in Lancaster.

Fall-In has usually been held in Gettysburg, but with Histoicon moving out of Lancaster, Fall-In is slated to move to Lancaster.

I usually go to the ones in Lancaster (and I've been to Gettysburg once before, and would have liked to go again.) But this year I'm only able to go to Cold Wars, which was just a couple weeks ago. All of them are excellent conventions, with a lot of games, dealers, flea market, etc.

Yep, 023 has got it correctly, my error.

"Cold Wars" and "Historicon" had both been in Lancaster PA for awhile, and "Fall In" was in Gettysburg.

When they moved "Historicon" to Baltimore, I was kind of disappointed, yet being in Valley Forge makes it easier for me to plan a trip.

Ok ... its official ... GP is attending Historicon this year! :icon_biggrin:

First time ever!  Really excited!

Looking forward to doing some gaming, and if at all possible, with some rules systems I'd like to try before buying.  We'll see though, because I haven't pre-registered and its already past time to do such.  Therefore, I just show up and see whats available.  Not thrilled about that, but maybe the tortoise will still find a few choice morsels along the way.  Going to at least get in a game of Lasalle with another player whom I'm hoping to connect with there.  And some shopping!

If anyone else is going and wants to meet up even just to say hello and introduce ourselves, that works for me.

Also, I'll try to remember to bring my camera for pictures to bring back and share. :::cheers:::

That's ok, we'll connect at one of these some time.  Looking forward to seeing your armies in person someday, too.
