Larkyn's Nordland Test Model (Soon to be patrol force)
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:35:25 AM »
I'm turning over a new leaf. I signed up for the Tale of Fantasy Painters over at Warseer, dedicating myself to a 1,000 point (maybe more later) Empire patrol force. After doing up a few test models (very brief paint jobs to see which I like the most), I decided on Nordland.

Here's the half-barsed test model. Just simple base paints, then Shades; Averland Sunset and Casandora Yellow; and Caledor Sky and Drakenhof Nightshade. On the actual models, I'll add highlights and all that pizzazz.

And here's the patrol, minus characters, as I'm still not sure what to use.

Betterest Test Model:

Not 100% happy with the yellow, but even with this new paint system, yellow is still slightly challenging. On a block of troops though, I think it'll look fine. And yup, I still suck at painting, and yup, my camera picks up all the crappiness of it.

EDIT: DOH! 2nd Picture....big splotch of brown...Durp!

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAACK!  :eusa_clap:

I have painted up a few models since starting this project, however, this is simply what's on my desk right now.

More to come later on.

Looking pretty fun, what unit are these for?

I like the colour scheme, it's probably one of the better Nordland model I've seen. I love the "shadows" on the blue parts - it looks a bit like the uniforms of Sweden in Empire: Total War (one of the best goddarned games ever, try it out!) wich is awesome. Brings a bit of patriotism in me, since I'm from Sweden. :icon_biggrin:
The Empire does not take you seriously until you've sacked Nuln

Thanks! The blue is extremely easy. Caledor Sky basecoat, wash with Drakenhof Nightshade, highlight with Teclis Blue, and then highlight again with Lothern Blue. When I get around to finishing the Witch Hunter, I'm gonna try out the blue Edge paint (Blue Horror) and see how that looks.

Yellow is similar in technique, just base, wash, highlight, highlight. I do however use the yellow glaze however, at the end.

I swear on Sigmar's Ears that I'll get more pictures uploaded tomorrow night after work.
