Is anybody else getting a warning that the site's security is out of date?

Yep, not allowing an https connection, have to go unsecure.

So if anyone was planning on putting all their personal and financial details on an army list... don't I guess

It's been like this since 2025-02-05 when the certificate expired.

Since it has not yet been fixed I'm starting to assume that that whoever owns/maintains this site either does not have the skills required to fix the issue or that they simply do not care.

This site also runs on SMF 2.0.18 which is a very old version indeed.

Unless I see a change here I will, if there is an interest host an alternative forum. I have the means to host in a serious capacity and I have the skills to maintain a site as well.

I still think forums are the best way to discuss things as I find things get lost a lot in discord or whatever so I at least maintain an interet

This 100% - Discord, Reddit, even facebook are okay but it's all so transient on there. When Old World came out I was pleasantly surprised that W-E was still running!

I never said anything about discord or any other tech. I said that I have the capacity and skills to run a site such as this if necessary :smile2:

I just meant that I find a site such as this to be better than the more modern alternatives and would welcome one existing.

Hi gentlemen ... seems we got a bit of an issue here.

Warlord as asked about it, and I've posted about it to Grutch and Bugman.

By the way, I've found it ... interesting ... getting into the site. I'll leave it at that for now.

We had an issue like this a little bit back and it seemed to go away. We'll see what happens.

I thought it may have been resolved when I could get back on, but traffic has reduced so much, and GP had an issue like he mentions above, makes me think it’s still ongoing.
Bugman and Grutch have not come back yet - if any of you are on Bugman’a Brewery, maybe report it over there for us too?

I've had no issue as a Firefox user. I do notice that the site has the note it has gone unsecure but Firefox isn't an instant kill it seems their (or at least by my settings).

I would recommend looking into Let's Encrypt if I was the site owner. Works for me web pages and I haven't had to pay separately for a SSL certificate.

Is has been almost three weeks now since the certificate expired and I am not convinced that whoever will address it.

Adding to this. Most of this site seems dead to me.

The traffic is much decreased since the cert expired. 😄. I think a forum is important.

Just wondering what's up with this. Any progress been made? Anyway the members can help? Definitely seems like traffic is way down, and that's a shame, I love this community.

Who supports the site financially? Is that at all part of the issue? I would be happy to give to the cause, I have come to this place a lot the last 15+ years.

@Tiberius: AFAIK, Grutch is the owner of this site, and has been financing it from his privy purse. And I, for one, think we cannot thank him enough for that.
