I die a little inside whenever i finish a miniature and feel all proud of myself...and then see that Mr Chumley has plopped five fully painted units on the site AND they're painted to a higher standard that I can achieve at the moment.

That said, I still wanna see more, keep em coming :P

It's shame that my talents are not worth money.

I actually have a short attention span, especially with work, hence I am in sales.

I focus on winning a deal, and then as soon as I win, i'm fighting for the next one.

My painting is like this, I want to achieve a good result fast.

lol

Looking at everyones painted models almost make me ashamed of how horrible I am at painting... Sure ive only painted 10 models in total in my lifetime... But still.

What is your new magic armour mix? I used to get similarish (although less clean, because I suck more at painting) results with inks, but I don't seem to be able to work it out with these newfangled washes.

using a combi of babac + ogryn flesh,

babac + gryphon,

babac + asurmen blue,

over a mix base of scorched brown + boltgun ,

then highlight skull white + mythril 50/50

Presumably "babac" is Badab Black?

3 stages of washes with nothing in between... What happens if you mix 3 parts black with 1 part each of ogryn flesh, gryphonne and asurmen, so it can be done in a single stage? Will the result be noticeably different? Will it not be dark enough because it's still only a single layer of wash?

I'd find a pre-mixed pot of that as my dedicated "armour wash" to be far more efficient than having to mix 3 stages and apply them one after another.

Also, it's somehow a relief that you have not yet finished this unit. Probably just because you're perfecting a new method, but hey...

The stages need to be separate, because an important function of the washes is that they tint what's below them. Therefore order becomes important.

Thanks for the description. That bears no resemblance whatsoever to anything I've tried. I think I might be able to adapt it to do what I want...
