Im in a quandry which army to try to finish painting next. I have my empire army about 97% completed, and I need a next target.
My three choices are in various stages of being painted. My woodelfs are about half done, you can see some examples here;
http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb260/crimsonsphinx/Asrai/
My skaven are just about started painted. I have around 12 models done of over 300.
My daemons have around 2 units painted and a handful of characters.
Any ideas guys?
-
Skavens, of all 3 choices, look most fun. Daemons are unfun dependant on most lists. Wood Elves make the other player hate you, skaven can be pure awesome.
-
Woodies!
-
Woodelfs have the awesome model range, and the fact I have considerably less of them to paint in their favour.
Skaven are the most like me. Thanquol would be what I would be like as a general, so I have a lot of good fun with skaven.
Finally daemons. My own army is not a power build. No special characters and no more than one of any unit means it can't really be. Unfortunatly these also need a lot of painting, and the models are seriously nice, meaning I would need to spend more time painting them than skaven. Also im not sure my opponants like these, as I have only ever won with them, apart from a loss against another daemon army!
-
Thanquol was ALMOST enough to make me get Skaven. Seriously. That guy is my favourite character in warhammer. I'm also likened to him close to daily by friends who are into warhammer.
Being a cartoon villain is always fun.
-
Leading from the back makes sense to me :) As does blaming your inferiors or superiors for mistakes :)
-
Woodies! If nothing else, they're completely different from any other army.

That's exactly how I play with Empire aswell :biggriin:

Traitor.
-
The biggest problem I have with doing woodelfs is I really need to spend money on them. The other two armies have all the models I want for them, but I am in need of some money spending on my woodelfs to get to where I want them to be.
Otherwise these are the front running army, simply due to having painted several units and heroes already.
-
What, just because I
sold my put my Empire army on hold to finance focus on my Wood Elf one I'm a traitor am I?
EDIT: What units do you need? I probably have some extra's that I don't want...
-
Yes. If I found you in real life I would be forced to play you and destroy you utterly.
Then set you on fire. :icon_mrgreen:
-
Im also undefeated with woodelfs, that makes them somewhat unpopular :-D I have not had anyone want to play them for over a year, due to a reputation for being "overpowered".
Skaven on the other hand have only ever won one game, with me being slaughtered in every other encounter, or at best scraping a draw simply by having too many units to lose out right, then retreating to the other side of the board to conserve victory points late on.
-
Don't worry, I auto disregard comments which have the claim to be undefeated. :icon_mrgreen:
-
As soon as my Woodies are
finished of a sufficient size to play almost any battle with, I will start up Empire again. And Dark Elves. And Lizzies. And...
-

Can I point out, I only ever played 15 games, and a lot of them were in a fixed list 1500 point league where they benfited a lot from 6th edition skirmish rules. I suspect these days they will do rather worse...
-
Don't worry about it. I believe you, but I like pointing it out that most people I would not.
I get tired of people claiming being undefeated because they're on the internet.
-
Go by percentages. And yes, Woodies are quite a bit weaker now than in 6th edition. I think I'm around 55-17.5-17.5 % for w/l/d. I've played almost all my games in 7th.
-
Percentages, obviously that draw nerfs my rating down to about 92% wins :-D
My poor skaven are around 1 win, 3 draws and 20 or 30 losses.... Whats that? about a 2.5% win rate?
Empire I am around 40% win, which is okay, as I tend to get mostly draws.
Daemons I only played 5 games, and four were wins so 80%. My mortal chaos were around 30% wins.
Notice how armies I use a lot lose a lot? :-D
-
I'm at 100% loss rate for DE! But then I've played like 1 real game. (others were 400 point warbands).
-
All my games are in 7th edition, I don't track wins losses because I prefer to eat a lot of food.
I win less than I lose, because I often play people who've played for many years, and I generally play soft lists versus hard ones, until I play in leagues, where last time I was second with around 10 games played to someone who had played 15, and he only had a single wins lead.
There, there's my e-peen stroking done, when it matters I rock. So there.
Anyway, go skaven.

No. I noticed your daemons win alot. This is not a surprise.

I've only played 3 games with them, won 2, first win was due to a plan working, which naturally wasn't due to ability on my part, but my opponents bad luck :icon_rolleyes:, other WAS a fluke. (doesn't count a ridiculous 4 player game which I wont mention ever again)
-
Go Skaven. They're cool.
-
I keep all my lists on my pc, and write down if it won or lost, hence knowing what to change for next time!
At the moment a draw is the most common result I get, with wins and losses being around equal. I am not claiming to be a fantastic general, only that certain armies are a lot easier to use.
I only played a few games with daemons. Here is my last used list, see if you think it is over powered.
Keeper of Secrets
Siren Song, Soul Hunger, level 3 wizard, Torment Blade
Herald of Slaanesh
Many armed monstrosity
Herald of Khorne
Armour of Khorne
BSB, Banner of Unholy Victory
Herald of Tzeench
Level 2 wizard, Master of Sorcery
19 bloodletters full command
19 daemonettes, full command
10 horrors
6 seekers
3 flamers
4 fiends
2245 points.
-
only that certain armies are a lot easier to use.
At this point I shake your hand and buy you a beer.
-
No kidding! :icon_lol:
Yeah, I am a pretty lousy WE general, but I like them nevertheless.

Back OT
None of them - buy the Shadowsword and start IG ..................

Listen to the wise and venerable Midaski, for he has bloody brilliant advice. :engel:

Do not listen to those loyalist fools. Embrace the great Father, Pappa Nurgle.
-
Nay! Join the true faith of the God-Emperor of Mankind, and follow the Inquisition on it's quest of cleansing to it's final and rightful conclusion, that is, the destruction of all that is daemonic or touched by the foulness that is those who worship the Foul Gods of Chaos.
Or join the Guard. I mean, you'll never see your homeworld again, but you get to travel, meet interesting creatures that try to kill you, and possibly die in a less painful and much quicker manner than some others.
-
Or join the Death Guard. Never die, never feel pain, never get a date, and a life filled with unlimited rewards under the loving care of the Great God, Nurgle.
I mean, the emperor is some dead guy on a toilet.
-
Hey, now, that's low!
It's a golden, backfiring, toilet. Not just any old toilet.
-
Elvis holds the title of The King, so if you should worship any dead guy on a toilet it should be him.
Nurgle likes Elvis.
-
Never die, never feel pain, never get a date, and a life filled with unlimited rewards under the loving care of the Great God, Nurgle.
Isn't this the general state of most Warhammer players anyway?
-
Fine. It's a golden, backfiring, outhouse.

Well, this could be true. Funny story I saw on Warseer, a 40k player was going out with a girl, and somehow the conversation of "What do you do in your spare time" came up. She seemed nervous, and said she played a toy soldiers game called 40k, and had a daemonette costume. Cue dozens of envious posts.
-
I haven't read the first page of the thread, but based on the title I'm going to say skaven.
-
Skaven have hit a potential stumbling block as the new book is coming out. I can't help but think new clanrats will be released, so I don't really want to spend time painting the 160 I have....
I think it might be woodelfs, although I do fancy one of them super heavy tanks. The one with the vulcan mega bolter :)
-
YES!!!
Imperial Guard is of course where you should go! Silly me! :icon_mrgreen: (got to make amend towards the God-Emperor of mankind for that mishap...)

i already have around 5000 points of eldar and 3500 of chaos 40k..........

So?
Another 4000+ of Guard, and you can have some TOTALLY BITCHIN' AWESOME APOCALYPSE GAMES! :icon_lol:
-
Eight you Loyalist scum. :icon_evil:
Good man Crimson, for having Chaos..
-
For teh Emprah!!!!
*unloads a bolter round into MrDwhitey's head*
-
3+ Armour, 4+ Feel No Pain, I mock you, loyalist fool.
-
You roll snake eyes. :-)
That, or I just get my Vindicator to shoot you up a bit.
-
Bah!
You're still a Loyalist, and therefore deserving nothing but contempt.
Also Vindicator scattering onto your own troops would be funny.
-

I totally read Vibrator instead of Vindicator... nearly peed myself at work.
-
It is probable that it will be woodelfs. I have had an undercoated forest dragon sat on my shelf for nearly two years now. I probably should get around to painting it.
-
Don't forget to dust it off first...
-
I won't dust it. I will probably run it under a tap then dry it with a towel. It is surprisingly dust free as it gets dusted once every couple of weeks like other ornaments within the house!
I think I only have around 30-40 elfs to paint. That is a lot more do able than 300 skaven or 100 odd daemons. :-D
-
Then go with the elves, just to have them finished.
-
And then sell them. Then start a real army. :engel:
-
I have a woodie for you to resurrect right here! *Points to crotch*
-
um. No.
