Competition - GW 25 Years - 25 Models
« on: March 11, 2008, 08:36:29 PM »
Ok guys - seems to be lots of interest in this in the other thread so how about some action. :icon_wink:

Make your list and post up - one post per person in this thread - just with your list - no other posts:

[Comments can be made in the other thread]

So like this .............

1. Nagash
2. Empire engineer with Hochland 6th Ed.
3. Kislev Winged Lancer Drummer
4. Tsar Boris
5 Ice Queen
6. Empire Halberd Champion with eyepatch
etc etc..

Use picture links if you can find them - but make them small, or give a concise (short but accurate) description like I have tried above.

Maximum 24 models in list - now Crom has been 'outed'.

One point for every one that matches the GW list.

If you post after GW reveal their next one(s) then your list will have to be shorter.
Posts dates will be monitored and editing will be viewed with suspicion.

Let battle commence .................

Number Twenty-Four: Mounted Slaanesh Lord Something of a signature Slaanesh miniature

Number Twenty-Three: Classic Orc Shaman  What I like about most of the models I've chosen is that they embody the character of the army they are from in my mind.

Number Twenty-Two: Dwarf Slayer Lord (today)  Daemon Slayer (1994)  He's a trollslayer.  Complete nutcase.  And it shows.

Twenty-One: Lord of Tzeentch on Disc  I think this is mainly for the disc to be honest...

Twenty: Astragoth Chaos Dwarf High Priest of Hashut  There's something very Dwarfish about this model.

Nineteen: Eternal Guard - furthest to the left  A lot to like in the new Wood Elf range, got to be something very special to beat bladed quarterstaff's though...

Eighteen: Phoenix Guard - furthest to the right  The hang of the robes, the weight of the blade, a sort of calm menace exuded.

Seventeen: Halberd champion with eyepatch  He exudes character.

Sixteen:  Plastic Zombies  Worth the entry for the Zombie Pirates White Dwarf alone.

Fifteen: Ninja Ogre Maneater  A sign that the sense of fun is still there at GW.

Fourteen: Beastlord with two axes  He looks like he knows how to use those axes.

Thirteen: Female Spellsinger with staff  This model flows.

Twelve: Dwarf Lord with Hammer and Shield  This Dwarf Lord actually looks comfortable in himself.

Eleven: Mounted Archaon  Good thing he turned out to be a softie, eh?  Wouldn't have guessed it from this miniature though.

Ten: Gorbad Ironclaw  That's an axe, that is.

Nine: River Troll holding fish with mouth open  These Trolls actually look stupid.

Eight: Tyrion Another hero on a mount... but they do put some of their best work into them.

Seven: Kislev Winged Lancer 1  A personal favourite.  It's understated brilliance.

Six: Felix Jaegar (1993)  It's the windswept look that I like about this miniature.

Five: Ushabti Jackal  All the Ushabti's are good, but this one is the best, due to the head being a good size.

Four:  Kroq-Gar on Carnosaur  Unlike the Stegadon [based on a herbivore!] this Dinosaur actually looks mean.

Three:  Greater Daemon of Tzeentch  The robes, the staff, the beak...

Two: Dragon Ogre Shaggoth  Class.

One:  Fanatic 5  What's not to like about a crazy grinning lunatic swinging a metal ball about his head?  Oh, he's killed all my knights...

Konrad von Richtmark: "...this 250+ points concentration of Teutonic cruelty..."
Hurrah for Halberdiers!
Bring back Stillman.

Nineteen: Dwarf Thane with chin on hammer
Eighteen: White Dwarf 30th limited ed.
Seventeen: the OOP Ninja assassin

Fifteen: The Chaos Dwarf Runelord special character champion - forget his name
Fourteen: Anubis Ushtabi.

'Ere we go!!!

25: Knights Panther grandmaster Just Awesomeness

24: Jezzail with Hat The hat is so cool, and the gun is sweet looking

23: Beastlord with great weapon This guy is the epitome of what a Beast general would look like.

22: Settra My will be done!

21: Tomb Guard Some great sculpting here, I just love them!

20: Kroq Gar on Carnosaur A man sized lizard on a badass T-Rex? Yes please!

19: Champion of Khorne I love the skulls and the pose. Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Throne of Skulls!

18: Blood Dragon with lance I think this the best Vampire out there in the Fantasy miniature world

17: Phoenix Guard Again a beautiful sculpt and paint job, just a very nice model and fluff.

16: Dwarf Iron Breakers True Dwarves in every sense of the word.

15: Savage Orc Champion I love this guy!

14: Skaven Warlord The eye patch and great weapon totally set this guy apart from the rest of the pack

13: 5th edition men-at-arms Some great old sculpts. I would make a army of men-at-arms if GW still produced these guys.

12: Brett Damsel on foot The hair pose and whole mysterious look really put this mini ahead of the rest. The best GW lady model.

11: The Green Knight I love this guy. A truely unique special character in all respects. the barding is also awesome!

10: Dragon Princes These Guys are so freaking nice, I love everything about them.

9: Warlord Queek No not our resident rules master, but he did choose a truely awesome old school model as his name and avatar. Its a classic!

8: Dwarf Slayer Lord A great mini. This Slayer could take on the World.

7: Dwarf Longbeards you can hear them grumble from here. Truely represents what Dwarves look like.

6: High Elf champion with horns and sword This was one of the models that got me to love warhammer. and still today it is one of my favorites. If only I had a better picture (he is the 2nd)

5: Badruk I would kill for this mini

4: Keeper of Secrets This is what a greater deamon should look like, the staff, pose the whole flowing robes. Every thing is awesome about this model

3: Gorbad Ironclaw this almost perfect mini makes me cry tears of sheer happiness.

2: Dwarf Lord with great weapon OMFG! this guy is one of GW's best, his beard and flowing hair, the helmet in is hand and the chin on the axe. This is a awesome mini!

1: 4th edition Tyrion This is the mini that made me a fan of all that is GW, the pose the colors everything about him is awesome. If only GW would go back to the days with this style of painting and sculpts
Happiness never decreases by being shared.

Even though sneakily you can find out the GW results, here are mine anyway:

25: Savage Orc Shaman - This guy just has a strange appeal to me.

24: Sabretooth (either one) - These creatures look fantastically fierce, yet also cuddly.

23: Slayer King - Again not sure what about this model appeals to me, it could be the dragon skin cloak or the crown / haircut

22: High Elf Hero - I don't like High Elves much, but this model doesn't exude the same nanci-ness as the rest.

21: Bretonnian Lord with Great Weapon - A good, solid Mounted character. Just the right mix of posture and movement.

20: Second Ogre - Go the old Ogres. This guy simply because he looks like Ogres should.

19: Great Eagle - Such a good looking Birdy. The right size to be intimidating, but still predatory.

18: Manticore - This guy (Manticore only) just looks great. I can't put my finger on it, but I have always wanted one.

17: Third Handgunner - Good old 5th ed Empire flavour. Puff, slash and codpieces in all the right proportions.

16: Ushabti - Tough and mean, yet silent and lethal.

15: Mounted Grey Battle Wizard - This is a Wizard. No doubt about it. A grey wizard. You don't want to mess with him.

14: Second Blunderbuss - Just love the blunderbuss. Better get out of the way!!

13: Drummer - How good does this guy look. What a great drum. What a great pose. Its a shame with plastics it is so hard to get the right musician pose nowdays...

12: Snotling Pump Wagon - This just hits the spot for Greenskins. Wacky, and yet still practical.

11: Bretonnian Damsel on Foot - The best Female miniature that GW have ever scuplted.

10: Marauder Giant - THIS is a Giant.

9: Third Bull Centaur (from assembled pics down bottom) - Power and speed and conveyed in this old Big Hat. Love it!

8: Blood Keep Knight - What a Great Model. The price makes me cry, but I simply have to have it.

7: Wood Elf Spell Singer - Raw, broody magic exudes from this model.

6: Dragon Masters Dragon - What a beautiful Dragon. And new new plastic Dragon (which is also beautiful) is a blatant rip of of the pose.

5: Wood Elf Lord - This guy just exudes broodiness and power.

4: Shaggoth - THIS is a fearsome beast. It has size, speed and power.

3: Vampire Lord - THIS is how a Vampire Lord is supposed to look. Ever since I got this model, I have been itching to paint it, but I don't think my skills would do it justice.

2: First Reiksguard Foot on Second Row - I think its the armour. I think its the Great Weapon. I think its the stance. This to me is a knight. No doubt about it. If I had to live in Medieval times, this is how I would want to be equipped. A feeling of invincibility and strength.

1: Belakor - The best model I have ever seen. If I was a Demon, this is EXACTLY what I would want to look like.

The fact that GW screwed up, disclosing the ranking early may have something to do with it as well...
