Zujara's Talabeclanders
« on: July 14, 2013, 06:18:56 PM »
Hello all,

Been lurking here a while, gathering inspiration from the armies people have posted and decided to start my own thread. I have collected a small Empire army so far, starting off with a battalion, some archers and characters and hope to eventually grow it into a large army! Here is what I have completed so far

Archers

First 10 Halberdiers

BSB

Warrior Priest

Captasus

Thanks for the comments!

Heat has been slowing down my painting, hard to sit in that stifling room with its tiny window most days. Hopefully it cools off soon! Managed to finish 10 more Halberdiers, 20/40 completed so far.

ragentry: Using Iyanden Darksun, Flash gitz Yellow and Bad Moon Yellow

Decided to paint my cannon in hopes it brings me better luck with it. Currently it just loves the can't fire this turn or next result.

Love the wizards.  :eusa_clap:
Very inspiring - I'd love to paint one, too. *adds another item to her agenda*

Nice colour scheme on the other units.

And good luck with the cannon you painted!  :::cheers:::

Thanks! I plan to get one of each college painted eventually.

Wife is in her 9th month of pregnancy so painting time has been limited as we prepare everything. Sneaking in what I can though!

Yet more Halberdiers. Almost finished my horde!

Made a Jade wizard out of a Bret sorceress. Sickle might be a bit big for her though

It's Warhammer, man - nothing is too big!

Great looking models - those wizards are fantastic. Very cool idea to have a complete set like that.

Darknight: That's a good point, decided to keep the sickle as it is.

OttoVonBlotto: Thanks! Wizards are a fun way to paint something other than my state colours every now and then.

I finished an Amber wizard conversion and painted it, kept it simpler since I will be using him as a level 1.

Arrival of my son 2 weeks ago has slowed me down a bit, but am able to sneak in a bit of time painting when he naps during the day.

Last 9 halberdiers completed!

@harv: Arms and body are from the Flagellant box. I trimmed down one of the left hand weapons and added a small skull from the same box to it. The right I cut the top off, and added a beast skull from the Tomb Kings skeletons to the top. Head is from the plastic Greatswords.

@CommanderMorganBernhardt: I do a base colour, wash it then build up thin layers. Some of my paints are old, so I am not sure on the new names for them

Yellow: Iyanden Darksun, watered wash of Seraphim Sepia, a few layers of Flash Gitz Yellow and highlight with Bad Moon Yellow(Vallejo Game Colour) then a touch of Bleached Bone.

Red:  Mechrite Red, watered wash of Nuln Oil, a few thin layers of Blood Red and a highlight of Blazing Orange.

@Gankom, Durloth: Thanks!

For Taal!

Fellow Talabeclander here! I make my reds very dark like yours. Great work.

I really like how the faces look, would it be possible to see a close up of a halberdier's face? So far I see that sometimes shades and highlights are exaggerated, but its not totally my taste. Yours look realistic and great.

Great work, want my address so you can send them?

daftpunky: Thanks, that yellow took me a while to get looking clean.

Talben21: For Taal! I originally tried bright reds, but found the darker reds contrasted better with the yellow.

Realjuan: Thanks, got as good a closeup of a face as I could get for you. I don't think I will be sending them anywhere though!

5 Archer Detachment

10 more Swordsmen!

Full detachment

Army shot so far (need to get better at these!)

And some goodies I found at a garage sale last week, not bad for $10!
