Here are a few Photos of my Blazing Sun's I have finally finished. I have always enjoyed the background story of the Blazing Suns, and have always wanted to paint up a unit of them. I actually go inspired after seeing how bland the Games Workshop painted Blazing Suns were because I knew I could do way better! I hope you enjoy!

Lovely. Absolutely beautiful. Now Usually, I don't like the Brettonian-Esque Cloth barding that some people have on their horses, but yours, when combined with the heavier-looking checker-pattern and the occasional armor plate on the head makes it look very Imperial. Truly Top-Notch work!

You're absolutely right, they are much better than GW's bland attempt at Blazing Sun knights. I love the extras you added to them, such as the feathers. The horses look good too. Question though. Where is that griffon with the sword, on the champion's helmet, from? I like the look of a lot but can't place where it came from.

Really inspiring knight you got there but to tell the truth, your fantastic paintjob is what really makes them look so cool & spiffy

Really good job. I like your idea of adding the additional feathers. Makes me want to paint some Blazing Suns.

I really like the looks of those.

Great paintjob and the little conversions make me realize again why I liked the 4th/5th edition knights so much better: Because each order actually had little sculpting details to separate them from the others.

Bigger pictures would be even nicer, though - gives more opportunity to admire the details

I love the additional feathers. And I know what you mean by the blandness of the Knights of the blazing sun that GW paint, and I always feel as though they should be really bright colours with a name like 'Blazing Sun'

That is amazing work!

At first glance I didn't even recognize those as GW knights.

Truly, those are so much better than GW's attempt at blazing sun

Very nice job. Great detail work on the barding. Yellow and black are hard to do well together and yours are very clean and bright.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Of course, after 25 years of painting miniatures, I would hope they would come out good!

As far as the leader knight goes, he was inspired by some Warhammer Online concept art. I saw the small griffon from the building set (which is also where the banner head came from too), and knew I could make a killer helmet decoration from it. I also added some wings from the High Elf Lord sprue, and even some bits from a space marine sprue (the canvas shoulder decoration, what I like to call "The Pledge of Myrmidia).

My thoughts on the Bretonnian horses were two-fold. One is I just love painting banners, and horse caparisons offer the same opportunities for flare that banners do. Second; I felt that Some of the Knights may have either come from Estalia, or made a Pilgrimage there to worship Myrmidia, so they could have acquired them in their travels through Bretonnia. Though now I wish I had done a little more work to make them a little more armored, and Empire-ish.

All-in-all I really was very pleased how they came out (and how well they have performed thus far in battle... they have crushed units of Chaos Knights, Warriors, and Bloodletters, and even may claim to have felled a Lord of Change)! For the last few years I have strived to make every miniature in my army an individual, and love the way it looks when they are each different, and these are no different.

Actually, I need to take some photos of my Battle Priest of Myrmidia (I am very proud of her). I'll post them as soon as I can.

As requested, a few more LARGE photos. I think these show off all the scroll work and details in the armor (which took forever). My personal favorite parts are the flames I managed to work into various plates here and there. Enjoy!

Good stuff! They are oh-so-shiny, as they should be. You can practically hear the light gleaming on the gold.

Please post pics of the priest as well, can't wait to see her. Far too little Myrmidia-themed models around!

I think that these are the best Knights of the Blazing Sun I have ever seen, and there have been some pretty good ones on here in the past, so you really have set a high standard with these.

The horses also work really well, and the posing of each model is much more dynamic than anything GW has ever managed with its Empire cavalry in my opinion.

I have a unit of Knights of the Blazing Sun (unpainted), but they look very ordinary in terms of the posing compared to these. I wish I had been able to view this kind of inspirational work before I had assembled mine.

In case I ever earn enough money to be able to assemble the necessary parts to do something similar, would you be able to list the pieces which you used which didn't come from the Knightly Orders boxed set, or are there just too many to mention?

As for the paint job, it's simply excellent, and I think you have captured the Knights perfectly without going over the top. This is the kind of stuff that should be displayed in White Dwarf in my opinion.

Truely fantastic work. Do you have any estimate of how long a single knight took to complete? Just curious how many hours went into the unit. I also think work that good should be insured. I agree with Irisado that White Dwarf should be giving you a call.
