The old favourite 'A Tale of 4 Gamers' has started again on the GW website and this got me thinking. How cool would it be to watch/ be involved with a similar thing on Warhammer-Empire? (It would be very cool for those of you who haven't already reached that conclusion!)

edit - The agreed rules and list of participants so far. If you'd still like to join pm me before September 1st-

-The "official" start date for the Tale of 16 Gamers will be September 1st
-When you have received and read this pm please pm me back to say you are still taking part and which army you intend to paint (I'm doing Dark Elves)
-Dont bother sending me an army list although you may post it if you wish.
-You may paint an alliance army although please make it a likely one. No High Elves/Dark Elves
  alliances please!
-The army must be a Warhammer Fantasy Battle army.
-We will be aiming to paint 250 points a month over a year (September to September) to a final total of
  3000 points.
-You can paint whatever you like each month but the final 3000 points should be game legal.
-Dogs of War choices ARE allowed.
-We will review who is keeping up to speed every 4 months. People who are not contributing actively
will not continue in the following months (that wasn't meant to sound as horrible as it did!)
-Each month we will post the 250 points we have painted (plus a picture of the army so far)
before the final day of the month. This should be posted in the forthcoming gallery thread.
-At the end of the 12 months I will ask the mods to set up a voting thread for the forum users to vote
for the best army. There will be a really cool prize for this!

THE PRIZE!
Although I cant show you the prize yet (as it doesn't yet exist!) I can tell you that it is a very special prize! A pre-release figure sculpted especially by the forums very own CMDante. Dante has agreed to do this especially for us. He will have to cast and sell the figure to cover costs but the winner will receive a promo copy of this in advance of it going on general release.

The list of participants so far -
1) Irresistible Force - Dark Elves
2) Dunrik - Dwarfs
3) MrDWhitey - Ogre Kingdoms
4) peterhof - Empire/Wood Elves alliance
5) Mecha Coby - Warriors of Chaos
6) scabbard - Empire
7) Marek - Empire
8) Fang of Ulric - High Elves
9) commandant- Empire
10) Y2J - Orcs and Goblins
11) Castozor - Empire
12) Badwolf - Araby
13) Dosiere - Empire
14) Random_dude - Empire
15) Joyous_Oblivion - Empire
16) anvalous - Empire
17) Der Kaninchenkönig - Empire
18) Z-Ray - Empire
19) Finlay - Orcs and Goblins
20) Dread Pirate Garness - Wood Elves
21) Greywatcher - Empire

Still room for more!

I would be interested, if we started in September.  Moving house, and getting settled with a family is taking most of my time.

I have to get 2010 points painted by October 30th. So i'm in. Hopefully I'll actually stick to it this time.
Curse you and your ability to stay within the lines.

Hi!

Since I have alot of spare time at work Ive started roaming this forum, thus making my first post!
I´d love to do this with you, either starting now with a new part of my already quite big Empire army or waiting for the new starterset to get released since I think many are planning on starting Skaven or High Elves (I will) then.

Hmm, could be fun, and I might need another whip to get me moving in my painting :engel:

It looks like people might be interested in doing this. I'll leave it open for a few days to gauge numbers and then see when people think would be a good start date. I reckon we start on August 1st or possibly when the new starter set comes out and post our progress in this thread when we either reach the monthly goal of 500 points or on the last day of each month (if we haven't managed the 500 points.) I'll check with the mods if we could maybe convert the points gained by reaching or exceeding painting targets into crowns for the summer campaign or something like that. I think this could be a lot of fun.  :::cheers:::

I would be up for this, it'll give me a reason to paint my bees Averland.
August 1st sounds like a good startdate.
500pts/Month is a good size but what will the 'finished' army size be? 2k? 3k?.

I was thinking 3000 points over 6 months. What do you think?

I could do it, but I have a bad camera.  (As of now, got a new one that I have yet to figure out yet...)  And my painting is horrible. (I'm far sighted so it's more difficult for me to paint.)  So if know one is bothered by this...then yeah.  It could work.  :biggriin:

Bad camera shouldn´t be any problem. Especially if you make it more than a painting contest and add other parts of the hobby like background stories and if possible maybe a 1k battle when the first two months are over! That would be awesome if some of us live close.

Auberon has said the same so maybe we'd be better aiming for a September start  to coincide with the release of the boxed game...

Yeah it'll keep the series running longer (which is good) and 3k seems to be the new 'official' size for armys.
I'm actually really hyped up for this. Just 'stole' my little sisters camera.

Might be a bit late for my empire (slowly pushing 1k now) but I could make a start on my new WoC.

What it be cool if we worked on multiple armes?  I mean I'll have to finish up around 1,500 points of Empire.  About 1,000 pts of dwarfs. 1,000 pts of greenskins.  Skaven when the starter set comes out.  High Elves when the starter set comes out.  And some Dogs of Wa.

Shouldn't think that would be too much of a problem

hmmmm I am going to skip this one. Maybe another time.

6 months for 3k points is alot.  If I would participate it probably be 2000 points.    High Elves or Dork Elves have been on the want to do list very high...

Count me in, 3000 points is what my army list is. If we start in September then that will give me more time to build and convert a few models. Just let me know when we start.

Big congratulations to anyone who actually gets this done, I have a hard time getting 250 pts a month done, much less 500!

I would be interested, though Im more like thinking along the lines of finishing a unit + 1 character/month :P. I'm having a hard time staying focused on painting besides my day job + my painting room being hot as hell.

I'll think about it. Having a deadline is never a bad thing!

It might not end up being 500 points a month, that was just an initial figure but you're right, it might be a bit optimistic. Its something we can have a think about over the next few weeks though.
