I somehow feel this thread has now run its course and is about to be ruined forever.
:::cheers:::

This thread was hilarious, thanks Michigan! I'm sad that so many people failed to see the humour.

Wow. I actually get what you're saying! I guess my addled brain is not so addled as I thought it was. Nothing can ever ruin Warhammer anything like as much again.
Photobucket has now re-destroyed my pictures, so the first half of my collected works thread is no longer working again. To see my website version of the campaign thread, with fully functioning pictures, please go to https://bigsmallworlds.com/

You have not played herohammer then.....

I place this terrain piece on your unit....you are dead.

I put the bloodthirster on the table.....you are dead.

So far I have enjoyed 6th edition most, 7th was a setback 8th was a step in the right direction with a messed up magic system.

When did we have flying high, 4th or 5th?

I must say that my experience of actually playing properly stems from 6th onwards, and I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment.
Only thing I would add is I would like flank disruption to negate steadfast, as I feel this would then reward the players who deploy and move with skill to get flanks, which at the moment are not overly useful.
I don't care about the rules.

Pass the machete.

Flying High certainly was in the system with the very pointy goblins and the High Elves in the starter set. Was that 5th?

I think that was 4th. 5th had Brets and Lizzies if I recall correctly.

I got the joke in the OP, I was responding to the reason why people tend to be pessimistic, which Chumley was talking about.
I didn’t read pages 2 and 3 though.

Well, see, once upon a time there was wonderful a medieval miniatures wargame, by name of Chainmail. Not nearly as complex as some of the other historical war games on the market, but not as dumbed down simplitisc as some others.  Then Gary Gygax went and ruined it forever with a supplement that added rules for jousting, man-to-man melee, and conducting battles with fantasy creatures... and then a few years later, Gygax and Arneson went and ruined things even more by turning it into Dungeons & Dragons.

And yes, I do know people still bitter about this...  :roll:
